Hello, I want to use the asset store, but a few questions, which I can't find answers of, are stopping me. Thats why, I am posting my questions here to get some help.

When I check the page of an asset, all I get is the option of opening it in Unity i.e. only a button which says "Open In Unity". Is there not a way to download it somewhere in my PC?

How do I contact the publisher of a certain asset to get more details?

How do I know about the usage of the asset i.e. how many people have downloaded/used it etc?

Can I use assets from Unity Technologies, like from this one -https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/21028 for free in commercial projects , without mentioning the name of the person who created those assets? Because I am unable to find name of the person who made it.

And, after that, can you suggest a free tutorial series to begin with?I am completely new to unity3d,and looking for a tutorial series that makes me familiar with the basics, so after that I am able to follow the "Stealth" tutorial on Unity site.

Click the "Open in Unity" button. Once it's open inside Unity you will be able to download the asset.

To contact the publisher, you can try email.

If no email is available you can try their website or look for a link to a thread and contact them here via the forums.
If you're just looking for more info about the pack you should start with a forum thread or website because others may have already asked your question.

Unity doesn't make download numbers public so only the publisher can know how many times a pack has been downloaded. But you can get an idea of how popular it is by finding where it is in the popularity rankings of its category.

You should be able to use the assets from Unity Technologies.

For a beginner tutorial just do a youtube search, there are plenty.

Lol, I didn't realize that there was a button to go to publisher's site o_O

So, I can use assets from Unity Technologies, and in credits, just write "Some assets from Unity Technologies" and everything should be fine?

And thanks for the other answers.

When I am submitting an asset, are there any important things I should keep in mind, other than the ones here http://unity3d.com/asset-store/sell-assets ?

For the most part I don't imagine UT will care if you use their assets in your projects. But use common sense - don't take a complete project off the store and turn around and sell it as a full game. People have done that, and it's dishonest.

The instructions provided for submitting assets are pretty complete.

Please keep in mind that Assets on the Asset store are not made by us, they all have their own terms of use set by the individual developers.

These however https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/publisher/1 feel free to use them as you see fit, but as mentioned by randomperson4 don't rip the entire project and sell it, you'll get negative developer kudos for doing so. The general use for them are as placeholders and learning tools.

It's randomperson42, not randomperson4. Get it right. :) The new forum software moves the 2 to a second line.
42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything... 4 is just another boring number.

No, you need Unity to make use of the asset, so Unity is responsible for downloading it.
