I started having this issue soon after updating to unity 2020.1.8f. For some reason I now have to restart my editor every time I make a code change or run my code once. This issue does not affect anyone else on my team. I tried a few things:
    1. Checked the permissions on the unity editor program files and set them to allow all for everyone just in case
    2. Checked the permissions on the project files and also gave all permissions.
    3. Tried disabling auto refresh in unity preferences
    4. Tried rebooting my pc multiple times lol
    5. Tried a different instance of the code with a different editor install on the same computer (installed a second instance of unity on a different disk drive to run a different local repo of the same code).
    6. Tried updating to the latest (2020.1.9f)

There are no errors. It's just getting stuck and never finishing loading whatever it has to load after an initial project play. Help would be very much appreciated!

I've created a bug report for a similar issue I have, while referencing this post:

Hello, had a look into your ticket, which library caused it? Or was it a custom one?
We are facing the same issue and we are using a ton of librarys that are widely used in our project. Not easy to just remove one for testing

I had the same problem. For me, the problem stemmed from a SerialPort that I did not close properly in
    OnApplicationQuit
    .

I could run the game in the editor once. After stopping I could not restart it again and it would be stuck in Application.Reload. Hope that helps anyone!
