    Hi all,

we are using PlasticSCM for version control and it works mostly great. However, when trying to lock a file from within Unity, it disconnects version control and shows the following error message:
Version Control: PlasticSCM : Command not implemented: [lock]

It seems to be the very same issue as described here which is marked as fixed:

However, using Unity 2020.1.11f1 it still happens. It works when done in Plastic though so it's not that big of an issue but still unfortunate.

Does anyone have a solution to this or is this just a bug in Unity?

    Hi @Lemonbomb_Jannick ,

the problem here is that "Lock" button is not a Plastic SCM "lock" operation. As the VCS plugin is shared with Perforce, there are certain operations that don't fit OK for both systems.

Notice the Plastic SCM Lock operation happens during a regular checkout (if the file has a valid lock rule matching at the server config -> docu). So if you have the locking mechanism configured in your Plastic SCM Cloud or on-prem server you just need to run checkout to get the lock. You don't need to use that button.

BTW, did you try the new Plastic SCM plugin for Unity? https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/utilities/plastic-scm-plugin-for-unity-beta-169442

    Hi @mrcatacroquer ,

I did not know all of that and indeed, checking out automatically locks the file if it has a valid lock rule. That's all I need, thank you very much!
