    Hi all,

I'm working with an artist to create a 2d 1v1 fighting game. The artwork will be hand drawn digitally like in the game Skullgirls:

I'm trying to give the artist the pixel sizes for sprites and backgrounds but I'm not sure what they should be.

I originally thought I'd use 1920x1080 as a base resolution and measure the sprites for example the pink haired character above is 576 pixels high, that way I won't need to scale the artwork and all linework should be consistent but now I'm thinking we should aim for 4k.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

    Cheers

you can always scale down but you can never scale up, so its better to make it large and scale it down later if you need to. that being said 4k is a resolution for movie theater size screens
