    - PIXEL PIRACY SIMULATOR -
    PC/LINUX/MAC

What is Pixel Piracy Simulator? (PPS)
Pixel Piracy is a side-scrolling 2d, simulation roguelike-like game created by me. I do ART,Programming,SFX and probably music if nobody volunteers to do it for me :D I started doing this project on 01.06.2013, so its over a month old!

So, in the game, the player controls the crew of a pirate ship. The player must sail the ship over a number of sea zones, each with events procedurally generated in a roguelike fashion, while facing against pirates and other hostile forces, recruiting new crew members, keeping discipline, outfitting, upgrading their ship and more. This game... well it was inspired by many pirate games and by the FTL.

Why i am doing this game?
I always liked to experiment when doing games and i think that this game looks promising,i plan to show this *game at (Assembly Summer 2013 – Hartwall Areena, Helsinki). And i wanted to keep you guys posted on my progress and to get some publicity! lol. Maybe one day this will be big hit... we don't know, but we have to try! And i don't have any release date yet! Sorry :p

    What is the gameplay like?

This game is all about the pirates, but the focus here is all about the crew and the ship. Basically, when the game begins you start with the X amount of gold and from there you have to build your first ship from the blocks and recruit first crew members. Since the game is rogue-like type game starting scenarios and everything is randomly generated. Once you have your first ship created and crew hired, you will have to buy stocks.. food, ammo for your cannons and only then you will probably want to set sail!

In the sea begins the real challenge, as the pirates on the board have very own unique AI that controls how they behave which in a fact creates a dynamic between the crew and this is how the game actually plays. So, if everything is automated what does the actual player do? Well, you issue commands to your crew members, those commands are mainly a directions like "Mop Floor","Set Course","Change Captain" and many others. It's like a visual novel, i am bad at explaining, but if you have played FTL then you know what i mean.

Decisions as a captain you have to make
    Here is 1 example:
Food stocks are running very low, and you are not sure if they will last long enough. There is 2 major decisions that you can make right away. 1) Walking the plank 1 of your pirates is sure way to get some more time as there will be less feeding mouths. 2) Hope for the best and pray that you will reach port in time, but risk that crew can panic and start revolt. This is just 1 example how this situation could go, but in a reality the game will be completely different when you will be playing same scenario and decisions will be completely different.

Screenshots looked epic and i love the game idea, how can i help?
Simple. Visit our site http://www.piracysim.com/ or follow us on twitter: https://twitter.com/PixelPiracyGame and if you have questions then i urge you to post them here and i will try answer them as soon as possible! Thank you.

The ship captain blocks it >.<, its there! :)

Anyways i have some screenshots to show you from the combat engine! Screenshots might not look that good and don't give full picture how the combat plays but it's very epic.

I hope i can post a video asap and show the good action in motion (i need do some SFX and procedural weapon generator so that there will be over 100+ weapon skins. Ranging from pistols to cutlasses, also support for ranged weapon combat and weapon swapping, currently simulation doesn't support this but i gotta add it, so they can do some epic mid air combat).

Currently in this screenshots you see crew members fighting each other, my next step is to add controls or a support how an actual player can change course of a battle.. i was thinking something like "Surrender, All in, Defensive " stances that player can pick and the crew will perform. Surrender for example would halt the battle and enemy would then place their terms for surrender and what they want in a return (weapons and food after that enemy will let your ship go).

on a second note.. i am not very happy with the blood effects.. maybe i should make so that blood splatters spills on the ship and they need be mopped out... hmm.

Why are some of the screens so blue ? At first I thought the ship was sunk :D

    Great idea!
Also you could introduce another way to conclude a battle: duel between the ship captains, something like in Sid Meyers Pirates

    Yea,
i love FTL and i am shure that that mecanics work on a Pirate ship also very well. but make shure it's not so hard like FTL but it looks fantastic.

    Thank you everyone (SpaceMammoth,TimeTravelerTed )!

Today i am going to show you a video from the Pixel Piracy, in this video i am going to show you how a rough combat simulation works .

There is few things to note, first is that you can't really see who is who but that will change as i will develop the game further. And the second is that the gore in the game is maybe over the board.. but i don't know gotta see how public will react to it :)

So.. without any more distracting words, how about you will just watch the video and see what is action all about :) Watch in 720 and Full screen!

    And for dogzerx2 :)... in time :)

Looks very nice! One thing, the game seems to have a blue tint, that seems a bit much. Other than that, great!

Ya, this game is really impressive. Lessen the tint and make the enemies stand out more from your crew. Maybe, you can customize your crew's clothes to make them stand out from the enemies. I'm curious what pathfinding algorithm your using. ;)

In my opinion, the name is not amazing. But obviously you like it, and Obviously you've done a lot of work under that name. And plus the Name takes nothing away from the Gameplay either way. Great work though! I love pixely stuffs! :)

I like the idea and the style, but one thing is strange:
On the island the objects in the front have a higher resolution than the objects far away.
Shouldnt it be the opposite? I hope you get what i mean :(

Looks awesome! I also really love pixel art but i have a problem making games with pixel art. You see, i have this pixel guy i made in photoshop (around 30x15 pixels) But when i drag it to my scene, the pixel guy is blurred put? How do i fix that, or didn't you have that problem? :)

hey, change the texture to point instead of bilinear. and make sure it is not compressed. Hope that helps.

Good job on bringing up an 8 Months old thread.
Sadly the game is very bugy and still has few things to do. In 2 hours of gameplay I believe I went through all the possible options of gameplay. As for the rest, the game is fun and looks appealing.
