Pixel phone stopped working

My Macbook and Pixel phone have suddenly stopped speaking to each other. Now whenever I try to build to the phone, Unity is unable to find it, and then the USB bus on the Macbook hangs and I have to reboot.

When I check the crescent moon thing in the upper left on the phone and drill in, it’s set to where it’s always been: “Use USB to: Charge this device”

I don’t know if it’s relevant, but a strange thing is that now whenever I plug in the Pixel, Photos starts up.

This setup has been working for a month and then suddenly stopped. What went wrong?
