I have recently gotten assets from the store and they all show up as pink. I have searched a lot looking for a resolution for that and I have found many complaints about similar issues without a resolution. Basically I am unable to create '3D' project and download assets that are usable. I would very much like to know how to go about doing that without pink downloads.

    Try this:

In Unity, remove the material/shader from the object(s) you have imported/downloaded, and then replace it with another material/shader.

Hopefully this works, as it normally works, to solve the annoying pink 3d objects problem.

Unity has three rendering pipelines: built-in, universal, and high definition. The "3D" project template uses the first of those pipelines and some assets are not compatible with it out of the box. You can see which render pipelines are supported by which asset by looking under "Render pipeline compatibility" on the store page for that asset.
