    and this?

and will Unity be upgrading to PhysX 3.4 so we will be able to do this?

What about the PhsyX GPU particle system, will Shuriken get a boost?

I'm pretty sure it is capable of doing these with the present PhysX version.

    But I just can't wait for PhysX 3.3 !

Out of the box I don't think you can, with asset store plugins maybe.

You already have PhysX just version 2, what you want is version 3.3.1!

From what I understood from other forum posts by unity staff we won't get all the cool stuff, so no apex, destruction or flex in Unity 5. Just the same features already there with maybe a fix for the broken cloth handling.

From what I've heard, the 5.0 release will be as you say. But, they hope to add more cool stuff in the 5.x release cycle. At least that's what I've gotten from their posts.

Why wouldn't they add the new features. I want to have the destruction engine and the fluid simulation.

nothing like this in 5.0, but Mecanim Cloth integration, and CUDA GPU support will arrive in 5.x, i just hope they make it before 5.6

The latest PhysX features look extremely exciting. That is going to offer a lot more realism for games that use that. Too bad Unity does not yet have the latest PhysX support. UE4 already has PhysX 3.3 support. Hopefully Unity 5.0 can at least match that feature set.

I just need basic (standard ?) functions without bugs.

    Honestly we need soft bodies.

I'm surprized it's been this long without them.

I dont know if you could do that stuff with cpu-driven physics, its a tonne of calculations, maybe gpu driven?

    Yeah most likely with GPU.

Unlocking GPU acceleration via PhysX in Unity will probably arrive in a 5.x release after 5.0.
But it will most likely only support Windows PC builds as GPU accelleration is only supported by PhysX on Windows.
