Physics Material 2D Missing in menu 2020.2

    I can't create a Physics Material 2D because it does not appear in the menu in 2020.2. See the screenshot below. There is only the 3D version. It is there in 2019.4 but not in 2020.2. I am using the standard 2D template.

    I had similar problem with another 2D feature, but after updating packages (Package Manager), it appeared.

    Thanks for highlighting this! Yes, there was a bug/issue where the Sprite Package had to be installed first for the Physics Material 2D to be available. It should be fixed by now. :)

    From Unity versions 2020.2 and after, the Physics Material 2D can be accessed via Assets > Create > 2D > Physics Material 2D.

    This was in efforts to streamline and gather all the 2D menu items in one convenient location - the 2D folder.

    This is not fixed, but thanks for pointing out that it can be created after installing the sprites package. As of Unity 2020.3.2f1 there is still no way to create Physics Material 2D without first installing the sprite package.

    if you took a look at the bug report above you'd see that it has been fixed in 2021.2, 2021.1 and is still pending backport to 2020.3.x (basically waiting to land in the release stream).
