Performance issues on Unity 5.2

    I just deploy my windows phone 8.1 app and run it on my device using Unity 5.2 with Master build config on Visual studio.

    The Fps I seem was only 40 or lower than the version of my app that current live on store , it keep fps drop that very harassment user experience .

    I then remove the app and install the version of my app on Windows phone store , the app run very smooth.

    The previous was build using Unity 5.1.2

    So does anyone get the same problem as mine ?

    I create a simple project with 1 image and 1 button ( using uGUI ) then build it and run in debug mode , the FPS was only 10 @@ , what happen !

    Debug mode is very slow on Windows Phone 8.1. Use it for debugging purposes only and ignore performance completely. Use release configuration and try profiling.

    Ok I run with release mode , and build using 2 Unity version 5.2 and 5.1.2f2 .

    And I see that unity 5.2 had worst performance than the previous one , the build using 5.1.2 running with 60 Fps while 5.2 only had 40 .

    To the Unity developers, please stop turning a blind eye to performance or hire some proper performance QA!

    Untiy 4.6x = Excellent performance!
    Unity 5.0x = Android gone horrible!
    Unity 5.1x = Still same performance
    Unity 5.2 = iOS/Android/Windows gone to ****

    Avoid using LateUpdate it generates allot of Calls

    Did you try actually profiling it? What does the profiler say?

    I've noticed some perf issues with 5.2.0p1 in comparison with v5.1.3p3 (and previous ones) plus, during project upgrading, all UI elements where marked as RaycastTarget by default and some animators enabled "Apply Root Motion" where it was disabled.

    For what I can see some perf penalties appear when game objects with animator controllers first appear.

    I don't know what they've done but workflow and editor performance with 5.2.1 on Win 10 is incredibly bad for me.

    I'm also experiencing same thing with Unity 5. Currently downloading 4.6.
    Unity team please.

    no doubt, cause I'm having zero problems.. Unity 5.2.1, Visual Studio 2015 Community, Windows 10... been smooth like butter.

    Try 5.2.2 patch1 and report back?

    I can assure same low performance for 5.2.2p1. I'm now sticking to 5.1.4 at the moment. :/

    Did you submit a bug report? We aren't seers - we cannot help you if can't even describe the issues you're having.

    I am experiencing the exact same thing using unity 5.2.2 on windows 10.

    If i build a master for (old) wp8 the game runs super fast (but has a glitch at splash screen) but with phone 8.1 build it feels much slower.

    Another thing is that in 8.1 builds visual studio no longer shows fps on device.

    Phone 8.1 debug build runs at something that feels like 3 fps, and wp8 debug runs at 40-60 fps...

    Finally the game takes 12 seconds to launch with wp8 build and 18 seconds with wp8.1 build..

    Same problem here on Lumia 1020. I created a simple dice rolling game which performed very well on previous Unity versions.
    Now, with version 5.2.2 it takes forever to load (about 5 seconds bevor the unity splash screen appears) and performs very bad.
    I also noticed a very bad frame rate and when I push a button it takes about 0.5 seconds to see the sprite change.
    The same project works fine on a Windows 10 Pc by the way...

    helped a little bit but the game is far away from something you want to play now. :(

    Reading carefully helps in most cases... :oops:
    I changed the build settings in Visual studio to release and the problems disappeared.
