    Hi,

I've run into a weird problem with Unity: When I make objectA a child of objectB, and then try to move objectA, it snaps along the X-Axis. Not the Y- or Z-Axis, just X. And only when it's parented. This happens with all gameobjects with a parent, even when I switch to sprite mode. And no, I don't have the CMND key stuck down.

How do I turn this off?

Still haven't found a way to fixed it :\ It might be something to do with parented sprites, I still need to check it out...

This is still happening in Unity 5.0.1 and always with a child (that seems to often be positioned at 0 on some axis in its parent's coordinates). With a single object, one can drag the Inspector values instead of GUI handles but it has been maddening to have to align 8 child objects individually by hand because there is no way to turn off the snapping for a group of them.

And, when unparenting an object, positioning it, and reparenting it, it snaps back into a completely weird position.

Please fix this, Unity, because it's almost engine-breaking. I can't even, make proper animation on Unity anymore... :(

I bet the parent has a negative value on the snapping axis....

Haven't run into this in Unity 5, though, so hopefully it's been fixed [:p]

Yep, I ran into it today, and it does happen only when the parent has a negative x scale [:p] Thanks for the tip, Cyril, now I can properly animate in 2D [;)] [:p]
