We are looking for a creative XR prototyper/creative technologist for a full-time or freelance position at our design studio in London, UK.

    About the company
Liquid City is a new design practice on the bleeding edge of XR, working with the world’s top technology companies to define concepts of the future. We offer creative strategy, design systems, vision films, interaction prototyping and content development, all with a focus on shaping a positive future for technology in society.

Our small team is working on exciting projects across user experience, interaction and game design. We are also developing our own projects, to explore the exciting and sometimes terrifying potential of mixed reality, the metaverse, and spatial computing. We are looking for a prototyper / creative technologist to work with us at our studio in East London.

    Key Responsibilities
Prototyping is essential to our process. You will be part of a design team, working to demonstrate, test and refine ideas for mobile and wearable AR. Projects may range from interactive prototypes running on experimental hardware, to mobile apps deployed in the field.

We are looking for someone with the confidence to technically scope and build standalone experience from scratch, as well as working with a distributed team within existing code bases. Whether public-facing, or produced for a private audience of execs, your work will help to lay the foundation for the next generation of spatial computing.

    Requirements
The ideal candidate is adaptable, positive and curious. They are good communicators and can work independently - setting goals, managing scope, and prioritising effectively. They also have experience working with designers, and/or translating ideas into tangible, working prototypes. They bring a responsible, empathetic and positive work ethic, and are excited by the opportunity to venture into the unknown.

    Applicants should have:
    • Expertise in Unity 3D, including C# scripting
    • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields such as Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Computer Science
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with real-time tools in industry
    • A passion for working on virtual or augmented reality projects
    • Experience implementing assets in real-time engine such as Unity3d, Unreal or Spark
    • Solid understanding of AR or XR interaction toolkits such as XRI, MRTK, VRTK
    • Experience with rapid prototyping and fast iteration through feedback and user-testing
    • Experience collaborating with design, engineering and product management teams
    • Expertise in current state of experience design, technologies and gaming possibilities
    • Effective communication with partner teams during implementation phase to realize the vision

    Nice to have:
    • Experience leading a team
    • Knowledge in visual creation software such as Maya/Blender, Cinema4D, Photoshop, ZBrush/Mudbox, Substance Painter, Illustrator, After Effects
    • Sketching/storyboarding skills
    • Understanding of architecture, algorithms and computational geometry
    • Knowledge of custom shader creation / shader editing in Unity
    • Experience with fx tools like Houdini or fx creation inside real time engine
    • Knowledge of working with and implementing AI systems inside game engines
