    Hi community,

I've been using Unity on PC for years, but now moving to Mac. As the topic suggests, I have problems navigating the scene with a trackpad. I'm trying to use my favorite 'first-person' fly-through mode, but when I click left or right buttons on the trackpad, the camera doesn't rotate, but the selection rectangle appears instead. WASD keys don't work either, the mac just 'beeps' when I press them. The most odd part for me is that when I plug in a mouse, the WASD keys begin to work as expected.

Can I somehow make Unity work with the trackpad similar to how it works with an ordinary mouse? I've read some forums on this topic but didn't find any complete and comprehensive answer.

Unity version 4.5.0f6, OSX version 10.9.4.

The arrow keys are used to fly through on a Mac.

The arrow keys do a different thing - they only move camera in the horizontal plane, ignoring rotation. I don't think it's a good alternative to WASD. Also, what about the trackpad?

I got a mouse. But in a pinch, you can navigate around with cmd/alt/shift combinations and taps. Also remember to go into system preferences and activate three-finger drag. That helps immensely, and also makes three-finger tap a different thing.

Thanks @orb, after some experiments I've figured out how to navigate with various combinations of modifier keys and trackpad gestures (some combinations are quite tricky). Unfortunately they cannot fully replace the FPS-style movement which I find extremely convenient. It appears that what I want is currently not possible, the Unity editor just works that way.

Bummer. There must be an easier way. As a just starting student, this is sad news.
