    We're closing in on the next version of Unity.
    Before pushing the red button that sends the Unity 3.4 editor out to the entire world, we'd like to have you guys checking that the web player auto-update works.

    So provided you have the web player installed already, please go to the test player we've uploaded here :

    http://files.unity3d.com/nicolaj/AutoUpdateTest/

    If the player on that page causes any problems, please tell us immediately in this thread.

    Please pardon my ignorance, but I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to see. I'm using Safari 5.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.7 (iMac 2009) and all I see is a Unity scene loading up just fine (presumably through the Unity plugin that I already have installed) and a resulting blue window with nothing more but a couple of text snippets reading "Version of the runtime: 3.4.0b4" (top-left corner) and "Unity 3 beta" (bottom-right corner).

    Did this update my installed plugin to the 3.4 (beta) release? I wouldn't guess so, since I would have expected the customary installation process through Installer.app and a request for my admin password, given the system-wide /Library installation path of the plugin; moreover, the Unity plugin doesn't seem to report its version number through Safari's "Installed Plug-ins" page, so I can't confirm. Was I supposed to see something else apart from the blue window? If so, then the test is not working for me.

    Regards,

    I should also note that I also see the Unity logo sliding in and then back out after a while in the bottom-right corner, but nothing more. Firefox 4.0.1 shows the exact same experience.

    Regards,

    I get a blue screen and it reports Unity version 3.4, little Unity logo and notice of Beta 3. If that's what we're supposed to see, then it worked over here :)

    Win XP Pro, 32-bit.

    Hm, something that followed me into my dreams, but couldn`t get the finger on it: shouldn`t the user get notified that a new version of the webplayer is downloading? It seems that this happens silently at the moment.

    Decided to tally up all the windows reports just because... I'm bored lol. Okay underlined means it has bin reported as working so far;

    windows 7
    IE
    firefox
    chrome
    safari
    opera

    windows vista
    IE
    firefox
    chrome
    safari
    opera

    windows XP
    IE
    firefox
    chrome
    safari
    opera

    So now that's 83.8456% (84.3 of systems are windows) of earth checked as working so far.

    My numbers are just basic math from the report people on the forum have given and the data I found here;
