only one undo allowed in the Editor

    Hello everybody,

    I've been using Unity for years now (such an amazing journey !)

    but here is what happens since I installed the 2017.3.1f1 version :

    I'm just able to get one only undo into the editor !!! :eek:
    The editor acts like it was set to record only one action in the undo stack and that is, obviously, very frustrating.
    whatever method I use to try Undo (ctrl-z or Edit/Undo), same result. I can undo the very last operation but no older one.

    Along with this weird thing comes another abnormal detail which may be related, although it is not really a concern in itself : Unity keeps telling me I didn't save the scene even after I just saved it. The asterix symbol remains on the scene name displayed in the top bar, as it is supposed to be when you didn't save changes. If I close the editor, it reminds me to save, even if I just did it. Of course I can live with it, since the scene is actually saved, but I wonder if both problems are not about some deficient system permissions ...

    Does anyone experienced the same and found a solution ?

    I found the reason : believe it or not, the guilty is a simple component in my main Canvas. The 'Aspect Ratio Fitter' component. Don't ask me why, I have no idea, but if I disable this component, I can save the scene again without Unity telling me it's not saved, and, most important, the several undos are back !
    If I enable the aspect ratio script again, same problems come back ...

    Wow, thanks for that hint. I have the same issue, albeit with a "Content Size Fitter" on one of my canvasses. This looks like a proper bug in Unity (currently I'm using 2018.3.8f1).

    What’s with the small number of possible undos? Any idea of how to change it?

    Aspect Ratio Fitter is probably modifying the UI elements in the editor constantly so every time the scene is saved the Fitter modifies it slightly. That would also explain why you were limited to only one undo, the undo stack was filled with a bunch of minor transform adjustments that to the human eye is invisible.
