Odd model stretching when importing from blender

    Hi All,
    I'm importing a model in from blender using FBX 7.4 binary export to be used in a mod for a game. When I import it into unity, it comes out with very weird stretching not at all like the original model. I've tried googling but I don't know what i'm searching for, and I can't even seem to diagnose the problem, much less find it's cause.

    Here is what my model looks like in blender.

    Here are my FBX export settings, note that I have tried with and without the experimental apply transform option, and even not as an FBX at all, to no use, same stretching.

    Here is what it looks like in my scene.

    Here are the import settings. I've tried changing the scale on the gameobject, but this is only a temporary fix because for some reason or another when an animation is played on this object it is shrunk back into the distorted model.

    Apologies is this is easily fixed or is obvious, I just don't know what i'm looking for to fix this problem. Thanks in advance!

    Did you apply scale in blender?
