Has anyone figured out how to get high quality shadows in a Windows Store build? Not for mobile devices, but for high-end desktop PCs that fully support awesome high quality shadows in Windows Standalone builds.

If you've tried to make a game with high quality shadows for Windows Store using Unity, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. If not, allow these 2 pictures to explain (plus some comments below):

Even with all settings the same for both players/platforms and set to Fantastic quality, just by switching to Windows Store, the shadows turn "ugly". Not just in the editor as shown above, but also when I build and run. Happens in a brand new project with just a cube and plane as shown above, and any other project I've tried.

I understand a lot of people target Windows Store for mobile and tablets, but I just want to target high end desktop PCs, but not be forced to distribute on Steam or other places.

So is this something I can fix via a Windows DirectX/SDK call? Unity setting? Or am I out of luck?

All of my testing is on the same PC, not a tablet or phone, so see no reason the quality needs to be different, since both cases just create an EXE that runs on the same Windows APIs :)

    Using Unity 5.3.0f4

We know of this problem, but sadly it will be only fixed in 5.4.

That is sad, but either way, thank you very much for the quick response and information... at least it is a known issue, and will be fixed so I can make plans going forward.
