I have been using Unity for a while, and have amassed an increasingly large amount of warnings about old code from built-in packages being deprecated or obsolete. Today, I ran into an error which keeps me from even running the game. I have absolutely ran the API updater and all that, and that hasn't fixed anything. What exactly am I supposed to do here, edit code I'm unfamiliar with?

You have two options according to warring / error.

    1. Go back to Unity version, that project has been made with.
    2. Update code, to comply with requirement of your Unity version.

Is there no way to get an updated version of this code? I've literally never touched this code before, it just appeared with the project. I don't even know what it does.

If you understand difference between WebPlayer and WebGL, in respect to Unity then error start making sense. WebPlayer become obsolete with later Unity version.

Probably there are similar post on the forum on the subject.
I suggest to search for such.
I am sure, people have been converting projects from one to other web player support.

Or use older Unity, which supports WebPlayer.

I figured it out. It's a "Standard Asset", and justI had to download the updated Standard Assets pack (free) from the asset store.
