    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to write a shader to where I can change the alpha, and at the same time, the objects they use receives shadows. It seems like if I want to use a transparent material on an object, it doesn't receive shadows. I am also not talking about cutouts either (where it is either fully opaque or transparent). Thank you.

Do NOT use transparent render queue.
    Then you can receive shadows.

Unfortunately no, though some people have posted images and videos of it I don't have any code samples to link to and I haven't implemented myself yet as the project I'm on isn't using 5.3 yet.
