Google just introduced an updated ARCore SDK Preview with many stability and performance improvements. They’ve also confirmed the commercial version (ARCore v1.0), which will come at a later day will support over 100 million devices. Here is on overview of some of the main technical improvements introduced with the updated ARCore SDK Preview: C API is now a public Android NDK that complements the existing ARCore SDK for Unity. Pause and resume AR sessions. With ARCore, AR apps can now pause a session and continue tracking after app is resumed. Improved runtime efficiency. Faster time-to-plane-detection. Improved trackable and anchor interface across anchor, plane finding, and point cloud APIs.
