Version control seems to be extremly broken and unusable on linux:

Additionally, whenever i check in new files, they afterwards appear as removed and pending changes

Hi, I'm afraid the Version Control package is only available and officially supported for Windows users.
    Sorry for the inconveniences.

Is it possible to use the old one instead then? or are there plans to support linux? everywhere else seems to indicate that it should work fine on linux...

Hi, I'm afraid there are no plans to support Linux for the Version Control plugin. But we should better document it.
You can download the standalone client and use it with your Unity project. Does it help as a workaround?

It doesn't, as there is no binary download or package download and I am on arch linux, if there was a deb to download i could probably repackage that for arch to install it

Sorry, I'm afraid our distributed binaries are only for x64 so the Plastic client won't work in your environment.
I will escalate your concerns to the product team. We have some other users asking for arch linux support.

    Hi,

Could you reach us at devops-vcs-support@unity3d.com? I think I've found a workaround to use Plastic in arch linux x64 (at least via the command line).

    Regards,
    Carlos.

I've had the same exact issue, for as long as I can remember, the UI will show the UI element's name like "ButtonUndoChanges" instead of the text "Undo". I just use the PlasticSCM standalone instead.

I also believe using the plugin (not standalone) actually causes issues for your project, so I highly recommend you just ignore that and do all your PlasticSCM related stuff inside the standalone app.

Since you are using Arch, I am not sure how you would get it installed as I don't believe there is an AUR repo for it. There is a decent number of other distros that do have PlasticSCM support (SUSE, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu)

I am on Fedora myself and it all seems to work fine.

I'm afraid the Version Control plugin for Linux is not officially supported so may find multiple issues.

    Thanks for your feedback!
