Hi, complete noobie. I'm learning how to program video games in Unity and for the junior class I'm suppose to use Visual Studio to actually write the C#. However, on the video the teacher shows that once you start typing characters a dropdown menu (intelisomething auto fill?) will pop up giving all the suggestions of completed words you can type. However I don't have nearly as many options as the version on the video has. I uninstalled and reinstalled VS and added any optional add ons that came with the program. Attached is an image of the video screen shot and screenshot from my own program. I'm also on a mac... be gentle!

I've searched the internet and Reddit but I don't completely understand how to implement various solutions people came up with because they all use terms that I'm not familiar with yet...

It sounds like you're missing the IntelliSense functionality in Visual Studio. IntelliSense is a code completion tool that provides suggestions as you type code in Visual Studio.

To resolve this issue, you could try the following steps:

    1. Update Visual Studio to the latest version.
    2. Check if the IntelliSense option is enabled in Visual Studio. Go to "Tools" > "Options" > "Text Editor" > "C#" > "IntelliSense" and make sure the "Show completion list after a character is typed" option is checked.
    3. Try repairing or reinstalling Visual Studio.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may also try resetting the Visual Studio settings to default or creating a new project and see if the IntelliSense is working in that project.

i had the exact same problem. i solved it installing the latest version of Visual Studio and make sure to put it on the settings as my default "IDE"

in "edit" -- "preferences" -- "external tools"-- "external script editor" and selecting the latest version of unity

i hope is usefull to you.
