It seems to me that when I import a model from Cheetah3D, it's not possible to get Unity to respect the existing normals in the model.

When the model is first added to the project, the default is to automatically calculate normals. I can adjust the smoothing angle to whatever I like, and that works fine, but if I disable Automatically Calculate Normals and hit the Import button, it seems to have no effect. That is, it reimports the file, but it acts as if the previous automatic smoothing settings are still being used.

Is this the expected effect, or am I missing a step somewhere? I have tried it with manually set creased edges and various smoothing modes in Cheetah3D.

    Hi Joachim,
I've checked it and normals are exported properly in Cheetah3D.

If I remember right it worked fine in Unity when I tested it the last time.

    Bye,
