No student prices for Unite Australia?

Whats the deal? Like I know its cheap, but it's cheap because the content* isn't as much so it would be nice if they still had student pricing... I don't know weather or not I should buy the ticket now because IMO it's pretty unfair not to have student pricing(Though OFC I'll be going regardless)

*And on a side note, I'd just like to express that it's a pathetic effort by Unity with Unite Australia, maybe no one will go and it's a test or something but still, it sounds like they just left it to late and ended up in a less then ideal situation.

So, you're massively active on the forum, been using Unity for over 3 years. Rather than complain about pricing, why not drop the organisers an email and offer to help, in exchange for a reduced price of free entry. Most conferences have teams of students who do running, make sure people find their way to the right rooms, have all the info they need etc. I don't know if the Unite Australia team need this kind of help, but ping them and offer to help out. Worse case they'll say no, but they'll at least see you as keen.

It's a pathetic effort? We're doing something to help our users in Australia and it's pathetic? I've not seen the schedule yet, so can't comment on how pathetic it's going to be. It's still 3 months away, so not sure it's been left too late. Also, if you're worried about the content being rubbish, ask if you can do a presentation about what you are working on, in exchange for free entry, of course.

It's not really about the cost, it's just that the other Unites seemed to have student pricing so I don't understand why Australia doesn't. And I would offer to help, but that would limit my ability to do stuff at Unite. I wouldn't want to buy a ticket for $110 if a student ticket is released or it was forgotten or something.

Well, literally everyone here uses Unity and they left it to late to book at the venue and ended up taking a day from GCAP. I'm not trying to say the content will be bad but obviously Unity left it to late to have an ideal situation.

You are? Maybe you should make sure your users know... cause I've not heard of anything until this thread.

I'll have a look into this and see what e-mail and social media campaigns we've got going to make people aware. Unite Australia has been on the the main Unite page for a while but there was no information about it until recently.

I'm in New Zealand (baby sister country to Australia), and this is the first time I've heard about it.
Something like this should surely be sent in the Unity newsletter?

Yes, it should. And Aurore is finding out if that email blast has happened, or is scheduled to go out still.

My 3 year old is learning as well that tantrums get him a timeout, and sweet words with hugs get him the world. Sounds like someone didn't have their nap and juice today.

Me either. My October 27 is busy already. (Graham, are you tired or something, because every post I've seen from you lately is as smarmy and cynical as mine)

Am I the only one that has known about Unite Australia for the past 7-8 months?

Is GCAP any good? I'm thinking of going but I'm not sold yet.

You probably have super powers then as I'm pretty sure it was only announced some time around May.

I am positive it was announced before then, but the tickets have only gone on sale recently.

Yes the tickets have only just gone on sale, the actual event was announced on the Unite page for a long time but there was no information until the other day.

Knew about unite Australia ages ago, hopefully I can go. My parents arn't such a big fan that it's on a school day, but hey if I do well and pay it myself we can hopefully see me there ;)

So where's "the Unite page"? There's a schedule linked on the front page, but that seems to be for the "main" event?

I'd also like to know if GCAP is any good and worth going to/extra price.

We like Australia. The Aussies have been very kind to us over the last several weeks. ;)

Going back to finding stuff out, I've been told that for now there is no Student pricing for Unite Australia but we can review this if there is demand for it. (I would suggest getting your University to contact their Account Manager http://unity3d.com/sales/finder)

The page only went up a few days ago and was marketing by social media when it went live, it will continue to get social media blasts and the APAC team are planning on e-mails.
