    Greetings,

I have been searching about this topic several days now, and getting frustrated as not finding any information...

Question: Are realtime pointlight and spotlight shadows on terrain supported in Unity 5?

I can only get directional light to cast shadow, but not point/spotlight.
If answer is yes, what I need to do to get it working?
I have already tried both forward and deferred rendering and it makes no difference.
I read some old thread that terrain needs to have a terrain material attached to it. I have tried that too, but it makes no difference.

I would appreaciate if someone knowledgeable could enlighten this topic.
    Thanks in advance

Hi! We are aware of this issue. These types of shadow are disabled as we had trouble to get them working on some platforms. We have a fix now and point / spot light shadow on terrain will be there later in a patch release.

Thank you for this reply, I lost hair on this one. I'll continue to work away eagerly waiting for this patch as my project relies heavily on shadows outdoors.

What terrain shader are you using? I should add that spot light / point light shadows are only enabled by default for the new 'standard' terrain shader. If you are using a custom shader, you'll need to add the 'fullforwardshadows' option to your surface shader directive.

I was still using Legacy after converting the project to U5, thanks for the heads up!

I'm bumping this thread up, because regardless Unity 5.0.1, I'm still encountering issues with shadows.

Spotlights and pointlights now cast shadows on terrain, thats a good thing. BUT... they disappear after baking scene.
When you set the light type to mixed, it should both bake and show real time shadows, right? This is not happening. Real time shadows disappear from terrain, although they still show up on non-terrain objects. This is happening with both forward and deferred rendering.

I would appreciate some feedback if this is just the way it is intented to be or possible problem with unity?

Hey. I suggest you take a look at this post and see if it's the same problem.
