    Hello,

I wanted to export movies in OGV to make www video store in a WebURL, like in this museum http://www.scam3d.fr

but the Export compressed audio file is not in the contextual menu of the project window ?

    Is it a bug ?

    Thanks

    Yann

I removed as I thought no one was actually using it. Why don't you use a dedicated OGV encoder instead? (it usually yields better quality compared to Unity, which uses the QuickTime encoder).
I can re-add it, but I want to have a feeling for how many are using it?

    Hello,
well It was quite usefull, and I did'nt find a better OGV encoder on macintosh..

I used it to link video movie through web, for this museum : http://www.scam3d.com/

Something interesting was, that the Unity Encoder in OGV was better than all other found on MAC and PC, It was the only encoder that did'nt change the speed of the very long movies.. all others OGV encoder found was not able to convert correctly some of our long movies in this museum.

Is it possible to link H264 QT movie ?

    Thanks

We were using the API to export both audio and video but not the menu. Did you get that information from Analytics which no one is using it? if yes nice use of that data

One more vote to put it back, it was quite handy.

Why would UT take out FEATURE that are functional?? I don't understand.
I for one would vote to have it put back in.

It should be back in. The point of using Unity at all is convenience and to avoid (or at least reduce) collating libraries.

I can't help myself, I just have to say it: Quite a disturbing response given the vast number of people who develop with Unity.

Hello, I found a way to code video in OGV on macintosh quite efficient... if that can help other mac users...

    You can use VLC http://www.videolan.org/
    (in english here http://wiki.videolan.org/)

Open the movie in VLC, (H264 movies works fine... apple intermediate codec doesn't work)
open the menu in the tool bar "fichier" "Assistant de diffusion transcodage" (sorry it is a french soft and I don't know if there is an english version.

    Choose "Transcoder/Sauvegarder"

    next (suivant)

Select your movie in the list

    next (suivant)

    Transcode:
    Select : Transcoder la vidéo
    codec Theora
    Bitrate (kb/s) 1024

    Select : Transcoder l'audio
    Codec Vorbis
    Bitrate (kb/s) 192

    next (suivant)

    Methode d'encapsulation
    select OGG (no other choice)

    next (suivant)

choose your destinations file and file name

    next (suivant)

    finish (terminer)

let the soft work without doing any operation with it, (it will stop coding if you do so) When it is finish, just change the .ogg in .ogv.

    That's all...

To make .ogg files for only sounds, I use Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and it works really nice.

I personally favor the MIRO converter

Its free, Mac / Windows and simple drag and drop and unlike Unitys previous export / internal movie conversion it offers a much better quality at 4-8 times less filesize when you drop in uncompressed movie footage for ogv conversion.
We were able to reduce a 4GB project to less than 500MB thanks to switching from Unitys own movie conversation to Miro while the movie quality at the same time went up seriously on our 800x600 movies
