No Heroes - A realistic multiplayer FPS

    When the communication tower gets destroyed does the radar function get shut down?

    I'm impressed that your implementing destruction in your game. Awhile ago you said you wouldn't be doing that. For me, I decided to leave destruction out of my game for now. It was becoming to much and I was not getting more important things done.

    Well, i decided that the game needed to be more dynamic and destruction is something that completely changes the map and how people play, alongside other features like dynamic weather and day/night cycle.

    Well some bad news today...
    As you may have guessed, the alpha version will most likelly not be released this year, due to some problems with networking, so i'll probably have to recreate the networking system.
    Like i previously said many times, the alpha version was expected to be released later this year - if everything went as planned - , and obviously it didn't.
    The main features and the main functionality are also still incomplete.
    I'll still continue to post updates about features, improvements and make some gameplay and update videos so you can follow the development of No Heroes.
    I don't really want to give a specific date because it is always subject to change, but I'll say that the expected date will be early 2014, and this will also enable me to make a better product so you can have a better first impression when it releases.

    I am going to focus on the networking and functionality of No Heroes for now, to make the game ready to be played by many people and temporarily ignore the rest of the game (features, etc).
    I'll still make some gameplay videos, so you can still see the game in action.

    In preperation for the next update, i decided to make one quick weapon. From now on, bullets will no longer cause the massive destructions you saw in the latest videos.
    This weapon will only be a place holder and won't be in the game. It will be replaced with a better quality weapon later on (this one was made in just one hour and won't have normal maps).

    I imagine destruction will provide interesting gameplay possibilities, such as reconfiguring level strategically. Nice project, will follow it!

    Hello everyone!
    Here is the first update of 2014 :)

    After a full month of extensive research for the networking of the game, i finally found the best solution for No Heroes.
    I will no longer use Photon for the networking and i'll be using another solution, meaning this:
    - Authoritative servers,
    - Less possible cheating,
    - More secure,
    - Easier to setup servers,
    - Implementation with Steam and a Database will be possible ( this wasn't possible to do with Photon Cloud Securely ),
    - And More!
    As result of this, the development of the game will be smoother than it was before and the number of features will be higher than previously predicted.

    A new Logo for No Heroes is also in the works and will be shown in the near future.

    I've been following this for a while now. I'm glad you finally put something about it on here. It looks like it could be the next battlefield. I really loved battlefield3, battlefield 4 is great but not as good.

    Wow, Amazing work! This will be a big hit for sure. One of the better FPS games I've seen developed with Unity3D. Gratz on the success.

    This looks awesome, and im obvious not the only person who thinks that.
    Well i don't really have the time to look through the 900 comments so i don't now what is in the game, and what is not. (i know some of it)
    I don't know if you can lose all your bullets to your gun, but if so it would be cool if you could take things of the ground and use it.
    For example smash a windows and use one of the pieces to kill someone (knife them)
    Just an idea, but awesome game!

    Has been awhile since i updated this thread because i was sick for 2 weeks, so i didn't work during those days...

    Since i'm working on the networking part of the game, then it's not really possible to show the work done, so there might be some shortage of updates for awhile.
    I'll post some screenshots of the game, but no updates will be shown until the basic networking is done.

    Giving a little update:
    The networking framework is going very well,
    I already have a database running and a lobby server running on dedicated machines. Game servers will also be running on dedicated servers.
    I also implemented a custom login using a key (for the closed alpha).
    Development is going very well and i should be recording some new updates in a week or two.
    I'll keep posting some images of the game until then

    On the other side, due to server costs, the first alpha servers will probably only be available in Europe ( not 100% sure yet ), i will also try to have some servers in the US but i can't guarantee that.

    1. Do you already have in the game "network animation" enemies?
    2. How to add me to the list of alpha testers? ;)

    PS: I have a great gaming experience in CS and Warface.

    I'm trying to make the world as dynamic as possible. Anything you can think of doing, should be possible. (realistically ofcourse)

    edit:
    Things like opening doors, turning on/off the lights of buildings, destroying the power generator of the island and create a blackout, etc.

    Looks cool, but I have three questions.

    Will the only map be the island, or will there be more?

    What is the status of the character modeler, do you still need one(not to offend, but the face of the current one looks kinda weird)? P.S I would not even try to model a character I'm so bad at anything dealing with human/animal, modeling.

    Also how do you in particular implement parkour, ray casts? Or some other way?

    I love the progress of the game, I am so excited for first(alpha I think?) release, I've been following since update 4(saw this project, and decided to learn unity :D).

    Edit:
    Also I was thinking to throw up a suggestion, a cool thing to pair with parkour would be a leaning, and special cover system, like in the game "Ghost Recon Online".

    Lastly, what is the "Battle Royal" game mode?

    For the alpha, there will only be one map. More will be made after the alpha.
    I'm aware of the character (the head is a head from a dummy made awhile back), i'll reveal information about the characters soon.

    I've been asked many times about the parkour question, i can't really tell, but it's not that hard to make one.

    Giving an update:

    Some of you are probably wondering why it's taking so much time to switch from one networking solution to another and release the alpha.

    Awhile back, i decided to completely remake (for the last time) all of the networking component i had of the game and also make every feature/functionality (networking wise) before making anything else.

    All of this functionality includes: multiplayer component, server/client logic, registrations, database, ranking, unlocking system, statistics of weapons/players/etc, feedback functionality, in-game store, game modes, integration with Steam, patching system and many more.

    Right now, i would say the development of this new networking framework is around 70% complete, and when it's complete i'll resume the other part of the development of No Heroes (graphics, models, textures, animations, features, optimizations, etc) and i'll start making video updates again.

    With all of this i hope you understand why the alpha hasn't been released yet and why it might take some more time to be released ( hopefully not too much ) .
    I want to make it feature ready and fully functional for an enjoyable experience instead of an unfinished product that is barely playable.

    I will soon be buying some high quality gun sounds and probably the worse aspect of the game will become the best :)
    But i will only do that after the new multiplayer framework is working properly.

    Hey there,
    Giving a small update:
    First tests with the new database worked as expected and i'll be soon making the server/client logic.
    I'm hoping to get something playable (not the alpha) in a week and i'll be test streaming when it's working and start making new video updates :)

    I also have some new gameplay features planned that will make the game much more unique.
    I will also be bumping up the graphics with some new tools and assets that i'll be making, along with brand new weapons and attachments that i'll be making.
    You can expect some good stuff after the networking framework is working!
