    Have I missed something? some announcement somewhere that there will be no free assets this month? or does one take it as read that the free assets are not guaranteed, that there is no oblitgation to provide any and therefore the lack of free assets this month is to be expected?

    Any comments?

    I guess there's no reason to go back to level 11 this month.

    yeah me too.... hope this is an issue and we will get out free assets. but as ar as i'm concern level 11 and sales are becoming a joke... a year ago sales where 50% + now... 20-35%, 40% rarely 50%...

    I'd like to think that they're just having some sort of website issues because even the layout of the new level 11 deals is messed up.

    In the underlying code for that block there are no other 'hidden' objects, so if there is an issue it would be on the server side that isn't putting them in the list. This is really disappointing, even if a lot of the free level items were not really usable. Most of these 'deals' are no better than we get on daily or week long ones.

    If you look in level11.json, called by minified-5.3.0-r86626.js, there's supposed to be an object called "level11free" but it's missing. Guess either the free items will appear on the next working day or a small remark that free items are gone.

    Code (JavaScript):
    1.   a = function(a) {
    2.     var c;
    3.     c = $("#resultsSale");
    4.     $("#catresults").empty();
    5.     a && a.level11sale && a.level11sale.results && a.level11sale.results.length > 0 && (c = $(c.find(".item")), c.empty(), new Kharma.UI.PaginationList({callback:g.miniLink, level11:!0, element:c, results:a.level11sale.results}));
    6.     a && a.level11free && a.level11free.results && a.level11free.results.length > 0 && (c = $("#resultsFree .item"), c.empty(), new Kharma.UI.PaginationList({callback:g.miniLink, level11:!0, element:c, results:a.level11free.results}));
    7.     g.setLoaded(!0)
    8.   };

    unity are shooting themselves in the foot with this because i would always buy an asset i liked even if i didnt really need it when it was 50% off, now its 25-40% off i 'never' do.

    Speaking of level 11, can you subscribe to it with Personal Edition or is this still Pro-only thing?

    Looks like it's just getting worst each month. Maybe Ut could just offer some UAS credits (even if i understand it is not realistic) ? A large number of the level 11 offers is towarded to beginners (complete projects, models and textures, visual scripting...), does it really make sense for Ut pro customers ?

    Sale price reductions isn't Unity's fault. Asset store publishers choose what price cut to have on their products.

    -

    Level 11 products are donated to level11 for the purpose of free giveaways to pro subscriptions. If asset store publishers don't donate products they won't have products to showcase.

    All in all its most likely a glitch due to it being the first of the month.

    I hope it's a mistake over a change in behaviour. I really look forward to Level 11 each month.

    The fact that there are only 11 discounted items and no free items suggests that it's a mistake. There were 11 discounted items last month.

    Why it isn't realistic? Wouldn't be any different from giving discounted/free stuff and possibly even cheaper since Unity has to pay developers of the assets made "free" (and possibly discounted also) to make it worthwhile for them. So instead of paying say, $80 to developers featured in Lv11 per download, they could give Lv11 users $30 in AS bucks that you could then save over several months. This would make it cheaper for Unity.

    Not a bad option, but I suspect they actually convince the asset holders to give their product away for free for a month for the opportunity of exposure rather than actually paying them.

    Do the publishers not receive any compensation? I assumed it'd be some type of cut; ie: Unity covers 35% of the price of each sale and free marketing in exchange.

    From what I recall Unity saying (I am not a publisher myself), publishers are paid $200 or the average of their last 3 months of sale, whichever is greater.

    I hope it's a mistake; if they stop doing free stuff then Level 11 hardly makes any sense.

    Unity was supposed to revamp the whole premise of Level 11 at some point, but there hasn't been any information since. Hopefully, some information at Unite Europe since they tend to make those announcements at their own conferences.

    As far as the general reduction on most sales from 50% to 20-35% we all obviously vote with our wallets. At least in my own experience (I ran one at 50% and one at 30%) there actually isn't much conversion difference. Unity and other publishers will obviously do what is in their best interest so if people buy into sales just as much at 30% there isn't much incentive to do the 50% discount much anymore. Obviously my own sample size is too small but in general if you want the trend to change you have a vote.

    Yes, that was announced here:

    http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/level-11-as-subscription-service-being-revisited.366198/

    But I think Caitlyn has left Unity in december while Aurore and Holliebuckets have moved to different departments... Not sure who's in charge of Level 11 now.

    Just going to weigh in on some of the potential misinformation here about free assets with one link:

    https://unity3d.com/level11_information

    And also let people know that if you opt-in to a discounted price other than that, you're not getting any compensation from Unity, they're still taking their cut as well. You can also read that in the publisher information. Basically you're putting your asset up for whatever discount you choose and getting a ton of paying customers. Since the biggest problem in the asset store is being seen amidst the sea of assets, the most money I've ever made on one particular asset was in a month where I discounted it 80% haha As for the thoughts that people aren't submitting their assets, so Unity doesn't have enough options to pick good sales from, I know that I definitely am and I've read about other people making submissions so it must be Unity trying to be a bit more picky about who they feature. So, knowing that there's a lot of publishers trying to get into the various featured deals, I can't be the only one who's trying to submit level 11 worthy discounts (since, like most of you, I hate when something is featured in level 11 and is less than 50% off).

    But I did notice that their submission process has changed slightly so that you have more control over what types of featured slots you want your asset to be considered for, so perhaps these changes have affected their back-end, just like the fairly obvious bug in level 11 today? Who knows besides the engineers working on these things I suppose.

    I would say that this is probably true. I know I'm not going to put anything past around a 60% discount anymore since the difference between 80% (which I've tried in the past) and 60% is basically the same sales but double the revenue.

    Expect to have something happen this summer or a little bit later. They’re rethinking the L11 thing. They are gonna go for bundles, of stuff that make sense, wanna make a first person shooter? Here are some nice fps hands, a nice set of weapons, some sweet sfx, a bunch of muzzle flahes, particle explosions and a first person prefab script. Etc... boom you're all set to start on this project.
    Also, they might have a launcher a little bit like unreal, which will feature those kind of deals, so right when you'll launch unity it'll be right in your face.
    These were ideas some few weeks ago, and chances are it'll happen.

    You get compensation for paid assets made the free for level 11. Theres details of how they calculate it but I can't remember if it was public info or not. Its based on whichever is higher between a percentage of revenue and a flat fee.

    Please no. Last time I fired up the Unreal launcher I struggled to find the launch button.

    It says the following on the Asset 11 page:
    Unity Pro customers! Log in to access exclusive Level 11 must-have free assets and discounts.

    Except there is very seldom anything must-have, and this month there is nothing free. Level 11 is not much of a perk for us Pro users.

    At least this month I only had 1 of the free assets. The low poly kit will come in handy, maybe. Still, one musn't look a gift horse in the mouth. Now if only we could get pro only forums I'd feel like Unity were actually concerned with putting those that had paid for the engine on a par with the free users.

    When it comes to the Level 11 assets I feel that editor extensions, scripting packages and complete projects would be more use as free assets for pro users as we tend to prefer unique art as opposed to asset flips, I'd prefer it if the pure art stuff was kept to the sale bin.
