After being offline, the new unity website is up... what an eyesore! The logo is pixelated, and the main menu font, style, and colouring is just so bad. Cyan, bold and underscore for main menu items? Is there no QA?

Judging by the title, I can't type correctly either XD

I think it looks great! Very sleek. That triangle in the top left is distinct.

Yeah, I like it too. The only thing that bothers me is that the Learn - Documentation section is different. Why can't it have the same header as everything else?

Yeah, love the new design. Looks modern, sleek and flat (i'm a huge fan of flat designs).

Well done! Can't wait to see how you apply this to the forums.

Pretty neat, nothing really to complain about except one thing.
On the frontpage, add margin: 0 auto to the div.secondary ;)
Everything is centered except the secondary row (the one with the four promotion boxes right beneath the slider) in 2560x1440px

You've messed up something with some graphics (using Safari).

    Unity logo's breeding.

Otherwise, I really love the design. Any plans to apply it to the forums?

@iKonrad unfortunately the sprite sheet is being cached pretty aggressively. A force-reload will fix it.

I had the same issue initially, refresh your browser cache.
    Windows: ctrl + F5
    Mac: Command + R
    Linux: F5

The style seems OK, far better than the recent Forum redesign, but the first thing I look for is missing (Live Training archive).

EDIT: Actually it is there. I was looking at the Live Training section rather than where pk_Holzbaum was. It is just not very apparent as a tab within the heading.

White letters at bright mint green background is hard to read. This was not the best choice for the buttons.

Found another bug. When you add something to the Wish List in the asset store, a notification bar at the top slides down to notify you that the item has been added. The problem though is that this bar is displayed underneath the new semitransparent header background.

Why does it look lame? Bullet points, please. :)

I wouldn't call it lame, but it is the second forum redesign in a row that made things worse. Here are some bullet points:
    • The screen is too bright. The background around the posts would be a lot better in a much darker colour to alleviate that a little.
    • Little distinction between posts. A very thin line and a tiny difference in shades of light grey are all that separate them. Make the line thicker, colours covered in the next bullet point.
    • Little to distinguish the main message content from everything else. The different coloured background should surround that. As it starts at the top of the message, it works better as a separator between messages. (suggest using the quote background for the main content, the current palest message background for everything else, quotes use the colour in between)
    • Until clicking on Reply, "Go to First Unread" is the only button identified as a button. I would rather they all were, but at least be consistent.
    • Why does it need to say "Forums", then "Forums" below that, then "Forums" below that, then "Forums" below that, then "Mark Forums Read" below that. Content doesn't start until half way down the page. The largest Forums line could disappear the search box incorporated into the right of the header line below. At least one other of those lines could disappear.
    • In the same vein, the buttons on the line below the title thread should be together. Put them on the right on the same line as the title. More vertical space saved.
    • Put the action buttons in a message together (Report next to Like and Reply).
    • Item priority is all mixed up. For example, "Member" is in every message not from Unity staff. It has little importance. Make that text smaller and paler.
    • The message timestamp is not as prominent as it should be. Perhaps linked to the recent rise in necro posts. Why even bother repeating the name of the message poster when it is nearby?
    • Quotes in a post that are bigger than the space allowed cannot be expanded.
    • Pinned threads merge too much into the main threads. There should be colour and spacial separation.
    • Because of all those headings, then the pinned threads, threads with new posts are often off-screen. Perhaps hide pinned threads without new content, the unhide button forming the separator?
That is enough for now, hopefully you will also get around to the broken stuff that has been mentioned multiple times (automatic marking of forums as read not working, private messages far too unreliable, etc.). This says it all below, a prolific user of the forums had to move his plugin support to his own website because of the changes.

This thread is for discussing the new Unity website, not the forum re-design. That discussion is here.

Yes, sorry. The thread titles are not very prominent in the new forum style. It is an easy mistake to make.

I'd just like to point out that the forums haven't changed as a result of the overall website change. We did one tweak after the forums changed software and left it at that.

The read more buttons over here don't work for some items, for example GPU Skinning.
