The 5.2.1 refresh with better clouds around mountains is now available. It's not perfect, but let me know if it's any better.

You get the best asset developer award!

That was quick, I'll give it a try. The fact that you are always trying to improve your product is why you're the best!!!:)

You work so hard with improving this, I hated to even bring it up, but WOW did you jump on it!

Thank you very much! I will continue to recommend your products.:)

I hope it is better. You can try changing the min and max height to something like 200,2500 or something... the higher the max height is the more the clouds will fade near the mountains, lowering the effect.

I’ll give it a go and play with it.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks for the tips on which ones to play around with :)

4K volumetric clouds max detail @ 70 fps, 1080 ti. I think I can optimize this to get over 100 fps on this gpu. This is not a normal game play detail mode, the ray marching is extensive.

Volumetric clouds are not 2D (yet). They probably could be with minimal work, I will look into it.

Results from testing clouds under mountain peaks. All in all, pretty good. ;)
Much better than the straight line. Now we just need to figure out how to blend the edges of the mountains into the clouds.

    But I really like it!
No fog on tests, just clouds in the afternoon. :)

    Here are the pics:
    The peaks- from editor

    landscape.JPG

light clouds mostly tint the mountains- not a bad effect
there is some pixeling? of the mountain edges
    2019-Feb-26_195623.png

heavy clouds looks good- except for the pixels on the mountain edges. It's extremely low clouds, but I'm testing.
I've seen this pixel issue with some other assets (I don't remember which), they added some anti-aliasing or something to smooth the edges. If I remember what they did I'll let you know.

Thanks for sharing those. I am still working out the jagged edges along with some other artifacts and will post back here once I have more information.

I have not yet accounted for the 2D sun position which makes things a little miscolored, but here is an early 2D volumetric clouds result:

2D is almost ready with sun, moon and clouds!

Here is the moon hiding behind the clouds near the middle, with an aurora and new moon shafts:

Is there a possibility of water for 2D as well? Super excited for the sky stuff... curious what else could be used in the 2D world :)

    Woohoo!!!
I guess my only other question would be on 2D volumetric fog, since we got the clouds so easily, hoping the fog would be easy too.

    Volumetric fog in 2D?

If your question is 3D volumetric fog, simply enabling the fog and adding any lights you want to be volumetric to the light manager are sufficient. The sun and moon are auto-added.

Something similar to 2D Fog... Maybe not necessarily volumetric. Although seeing fog pushed through by a moving character in 2D would be interesting.

I see, I will look into it, although Lux is a pretty good price if you wanted to use Weather Maker with it. It doesn't have the wind speed affects waves capability and one draw call for all lights capability, but is still some pretty good water.

Example of volumetric cloud moon beams, new in release today! This uses a sceen space effect that is downsampled for performance and avoids shadow texture marching and lookup.

I went to go look I got this Aug 14 th 2017. @jjxtra Weather Maker has come so far from then.
Thank you for all your hard work and continued hard work, things are looking amazing!
One thought I have not tried yet, is if the water will work with the new Aura 2 asset?

Thanks you are very kind. I do not know if the water will work, worth a try. Hopefully Aura has a way to render after the water.

Hi! I've had a very outdated version of WeatherMaker in my project that I never really changed from default settings. Just updated to the latest version today. Made sure to delete the old WeatherMaker directory to install newer version. I cannot seem to get volumetric clouds to work. The old type of clouds show up instead. Even in the demo scene. If I install in a fresh project, the volumetric clouds work. Am I missing an obvious step here? Is there a setting that's not mentioned in the readme or tutorial video? Using Unity 2018.3.1.

Double check your quality setting is high enough. The lowest couple of Unity quality levels will not show volumetric clouds. When you run, on the weather maker script a performance profile will be set. Check it out to see if it has the volumetric clouds enabled.

This is a big upgrade, so be sure to watch the new tutorial videos.

Aha! Manually setting a performance profile did the trick. I have a lot to go over now with all the new changes. Thanks so much! Clouds look amazing!

Here is a scene shot of the Water scene and a default Aura 2 setting.
It looks like it is working. there is a spot, but walking further on the water, all you
see is fog and water, so I assume this looks correct?

If you leave the performance profile null it will auto-set based on Unity quality setting.

Looks good to me! A scene that is tidied up on the horizon will obviously look better but this was just my quick and dirty demo scene.

Thanks, it was just a quick test with the default fast profiles Aura 2 has, and really they are too strong, but it shows it is
    working well. :)

    NICE!!!
also, +1 to 2d water and 2d Fog
can i ask for something (in 2D)?
it is posibble to have layers of rain (and other effect), for example, 1 layer in front wiht no collider, and another to collide with some object?

    @jjxtra ,

May have been asked before but is Weather Maker and are it's features fully integrated now in to GAIA, if so, how integrated? Auto-setup? and is Weather Maker fully integrated then with GAIA's World API?

Also, does Weather Maker support rain puddles, rain drops and wetness on surfaces in similar way to how it supports snow cover on floor when snowing?

I made a gai window extension with common functions, but other then that no other integration. Global wetness is on the roadmap.
