So... I just received a "new subscription" proposal for Unity Pro giving 6 assets from the store if you pay upfront for a year.
    So far so good.
However, I have noticed the "perpetual license after 2 years" clause has completely vanished from the web.
Would that mean it's a new contract that doesn't allow perpetual licenses anymore?

Unity removed perpetual licenses long ago. They aren’t an option anymore.

PRO subscribers are entitled to a perpetual license after subscribing for 2 years.
They only need to send an email stating so before canceling the subscription.
That's what was announced when we switched to the subscription model and it was specified in the store page, after the FAQs.

    That's not exactly true.

They did have a thing, until recently (?), where if you were subscribed for 2 years and then cancelled your subscription, you could keep using the last available Unity version within that period (but no more updates, unless you subscribed again).

It does seem that all mentions of this have stealthily disappeared.

If I don't want to immediately renew my Pro subscription because I already have these 6 assets would I still get all other benefits like:

    Advanced support for professional creators
Advanced features for team and project efficiency
    Exclusive savings on hands-on training
20% off in the Asset Store

I hope that is the case otherwise it would't make any sense to me.

...until you subscribe again, pay for 2 years more and then you could get the latest version you were when you cancel.
That was the deal until now...

It seems so as per the email I just got:

Oh, you mean if you renew later? I don't know. I suppose, as long as you accept the new contract.

It seems to me there are two kinds of benefits here when you renew now. One time benefit (free assets) and continuous benefits which I've outlined in my original post. It is clear to me that if I won't renew till the deadline I won't get the one time benefit but I think I should still get the others - otherwise my Pro subscription would not be really a Pro subscription anymore - because it would lack some services offered to new Unity Pro subscribers.

mmm... that's more and more scary:
Back in 2017 I rechecked by email with the Unity team that the "2 year subscription then perpetual license" clause was still valid for new subscriptions.
I was told it was correct and to check the technical details in this page:
    https://support.unity3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/211154663-How-do-I-get-Pay-to-Own-

As you can see when you click, this support page about the "pay to own" from 2 years of unity pro now shows "You're not authorized to access this page"...

I have written an e-mail to the ProCare team and I'm waiting for feedback on this.

I'm sure Unity will reinstate these license deals if there's enough demand. Is there any demand though?

That's the main reason I have a pro license.

Let us knows once Unity replies to you if owning the software after two years is still a deal.

Well, they should make a big fuss about how they don't support that any more and see if their sales drop.

How else would they know if there is demand?

Obviously by the amount of people asking sales via email or the live support. That's how it usually goes.

How would they ask for it if they don't know it's gone?

Then it can't be that important. If it's important, ask sales.

Well, for me at least it is.
Anyway, if it's not "that" important, then why remove it?
All of this is quite shady.
I hope I'm just being paranoid and got it wrong.

You should contact sales. That's the reason for their existence.
Fail to understand what "shady" means.

Shady because? Did they commit fraud or something?

A business is perfectly within it's right to sell a product however it pleases. If you need proper final answers, sales is where you get them.
