New Unity certifications based on OLD version?

    Hi guys

    I have a question. The new tracks have JUST been released recently...... but they're based on the 2017 version of Unity.

    We're already on the 2019 Beta. When can we expect the certifications to be based on current releases?
    I mean from a 3D Artist point of view, it's important to be up to date, especially with new things being the bees knees such as LWRP, HDRP, GPU lightmapper etc.

    Thoughts?

    Well, I wouldn't count on it. You can't expect anyone to take the test until you don't have a complete and accessible documentation. Since the features you mentioned are in preview/beta at best, they won't have proper documentation until they don't come out of the preview/beta status, because things change frequently, it would be a waste of time to write a comprehensive documentation for them.

    Thanks Lurking-Ninja for your answer. You are 100% correct. We are working on few new certifications this year including revamping the Unity Certified Expert Gameplay Programmer exam, which will be based on Unity 2019.3 Version. So please keep a lookout for those ones.

    Any rough ETA on the updated courses?

    The "1st step" certifications like the "Unity 3D Artist" and "Unity Programmer" (or whatever updated version will be called), are the ones I'm interested in for now, before going onto more advanced certifications

    We are not updating the courses until we update the exam to a newer version.     Hi @newguy123, Unity Certified User: Programmer is based on Unity 2018.x. All the other certifications are based on 2017.x. We will be launching the Expert Programmer Certification later this year which will be based on 2019.3. I hope this helps.
