New SSAO with HDRP 6.9.1 + 2019.2 is Pitch Black for walls in the shadow

    Hello,

    the new SSAO in with HDRP 6.9.1 + Unity 2019.2.2f1 is Pitch Black for walls in the shadow :

    2019-08 - SSAO - Unity 2019.2 - Picth Black.jpg

    No SSAO :

    SSAO in 2019.1 :

    In bonus, the SSAO is not stable and flickers all around (especially at low intensities) ; it's really awful, I wonder how it could replace the previous one which was working nicely... :confused:

    Can't you reduce the intensity and/or radius and see if that helps?

    @AcidArrow ,
    no, I tried all the different settings ; at low intensities, most of the black zones are still too big and still pitch black, and there's an insane aliasing appearing on the periphery, plus it's very pulsating. It looks very strange, I wonder if I have a special case here or if they shipped a super bugged version... :eek:

    HDRP moved to Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion which explains the difference here. It's not a bug, it's a different SSAO algorithm. It's more realistic on the appearance, like the algo naming suggest.

    @rizu ,
    it was obvious it was a different algorithm. That it is bugged or not is a completely different matter, though... ;)

    You all have the same issue of what exactly? Just saying there's an issue without describing it doesn't really let anyone to help you. It's going to look different by design.

    The shadows have lines and look dark when I activate the ambient occlusion. I didn't have that problem in previous versions (2019.1). Sorry for my English.

    @GastonMarchese not to mention that there's also flickering, at least on some systems (?). I got slight or clearly visible flickering in that pattern that is visible in your first image.
