New Project defaults to 2D Mode

    As it says in the title. Whenever I create a new project through the launcher, even though I select 3D mode as the preferred project setting, it always defaults to 2D.

    Thankfully, this doesn't persist, and isn't a critical issue, because I can easily switch to 3D mode through Edit->Project Settings->Editor: "Default Behaviour Mode". And then it stays that way.

    But it's a bit of a nuisance to have to do this whenever I create a new project. Which isn't often, but it's often enough that I have to go through this at least once a week, at least so far (we manage each subsystem in its own project). It's a first world problem if anything.

    Has anyone else had this prop up?

    In the new project screen there is a 2D and 3D button at the bottom. It sticks with what you made last so just select it there when creating a new project.

    Can confirm. New projects start Editor in 2D mode even when 3D is selected.

    This is what I was referring to in the first paragraph. This doesn't work. 3D is the default one selected, then it starts in 2D mode regardless of what I selected.

    That sounds like a bug. Can you please file a quick report and ping me the case number here? That'd be nice.

    There wasn't much else to put in the report, other than what's already in this thread. Hope it helps though.

    Crap, sorry. Whenever I visit the forums, I forget to log in and miss alerts.

    But no, I tried finding what I posted to the issue tracker on the site without luck a while back. I was hoping the issue was prominent enough for someone else to post it, who had a clue about how to navigate the issue tracker page. :S

    In any case, this was still happening last time I checked. I made a new project around 20-30th of march, and it happened then. I haven't checked again after the last update though, which came out around that time and which I applied a week ago, so I don't know if it's been fixed already.

    Edit: It seems to have been fixed. It's not happening for me at the moment with 5.3.4f1.

    Does anyone know how to change a project from 2d to 3d? After the fact.

    Yes. I mentioned that in the original post.

    Edit->Project Settings->Editor: "Default Behaviour Mode", change 2D to 3D.

    Any scene you create from there after will use default 3D settings.

    I wish I'd known about that bit sooner - I've been caught by this bug a number of times as well, and resorted to deleting the project after it finished building, then re-constructing it. For the most part, that generally results in a correct project a second time.
