    Hi all

    // summary
    Looking to exchange currency for guidance from someone up-to-date and savvy on Unity networking
    Weekly or twice-weekly one-hour sessions at a good rate

    // back story
    I'm an experienced creative coder/motion designer hybrid, very familiar with Unity, OOP, real-time rendering, and multiplayer principles.

    Several years ago I made a post similar to this one, looking for a tutor to walk me through the basics of writing a shader (hi Jason!), because, even if you understand the concepts, the learning curve is quite steep for the uninitiated.

    It was such a positive, productive experience, and I find myself in a similar position recently--except instead of shaders it's networking. I ended up here and tooled around with the FPS Sample for a while (which is amazing), but it's a lot to take in.

    I know there are many resources to learn from (Unity and generic alike), but recent projects at work have been a bit demanding, to the point that some (all) of our R&D projects are collecting dust from this bottleneck.

    So I'd like to hire a good ol' fashioned tutor!

    // goal
    The goal is more or less the Hello World version of a multiplayer game, but we're in a bit of a limbo with Unity's multiplayer so let's establish this 'in person'

    // disclaimers/post thoughts
    o Very sorry if this is an inappropriate forum for this kind of post--please advise if so.
    o I'm aware a lot of what we might cover could be obsolete when Unity's new system rolls out in a couple years, but I'd still like to do things post-UNET and pre-Whatever.
    o DM me or post here, and I'll update, here, when appropriate.
    o Otherwise, lemme know if you know someone!

    Thanks!!
    C

    Is there a particular network API you had in mind?

    The LLAPI + new transport layer; I've not used them, but that's the Unity blog post suggestion for someone like me, and I feel like I would get the most out of it, if no-one suggests otherwise.

    Ehhh, probably not going to get any takers then. The Unet LLAPI was deprecated almost 2 years ago and is scheduled for complete removal from Unity in 2020.1 which is just a few months away. The people who were really experienced with it have long ago moved on other than supporting their existing games. The "new transport layer" is an unfinished and largely undocumented alpha that most users are just experimenting with to see what Unity is building on for its future. The number of people in the world with the experience needed to confidently teach it to someone else I could probably count on one hand.

    I'd suggest choosing an alternative, and a popular one, in order to find someone willing to teach it (or just follow its tutorials and manual)

    Thanks for looking out for me, Joe!

    That is embarrassing, I was trying to go for the most not deprecated version xD

    Really 'preciate the guidance. Gonna amble over maybe to the MLAPI wiki.
