    probably this is the main issue preventing them implemenent a decent Nested Prefab solution.

    Can someone from the team that's working on this clarify that the two major use cases are actually being solved here as well?

    Being able to nest prefabs just like that without some additional modifications doesn't really help all that much when you start using it.

    UI stuff is the best example as it is very easy to understand. I'm thinking of these two things:

    1) Being able to override stuff in the lower prefabs.
    Example: There should be a way so that I can override the TitleText inside WindowPrefab.

    2) Being able to modify the content of a prefab.
    Example: Probably I also want to also fill my WindowPrefab with some content. Right now I'm just making different "content prefabs" (they obviously can't have a parent object so designing/debugging them at edit time is pretty annoying). And at runtime I instantiate my WindowPrefab and the correct content prefab and put the content into the window.

    Unity's not perfect, but the progress of the engine has been massive in the past year. I have high hopes

    It is still categorized as "timeline long or uncertain". Given how they teased us several times in the past and nothing ever came out of it, I wouldn't hold my breath.

    We have built our own system internally that works great. In a few months once we ship our next game we will try to get it up on the asset store if Unity has not made an official workflow by then.

    Wow! A day that will be canonized.

    And Unity took the prefabs, gave thanks and broke it into nested prefabs, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my nested prefab given for you; nest them in remembrance of me.”

    But nothing ideal... - found break behaviour if change hierarchy in prefab
