Needed: a Tutorial for newbies for the animator controller

I have a pre-made character That I made in unity, Rigged and made animations for in blender. Thhen exported to unity in a fbx format. I have animation files for this character. I found the animator window. I not sure how to make my 3d character walk forward / play the walk animation while I press the "W" key in the game. Does anyone have a "Animation guide for dummies in unity 3d?" Or something? I am using the current latest version of unity. ( non-beta.) Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
