I also think that the first one looks the best. I would say that the 7th and 8th should be removed from the options the bright red is too distracting.

I like the text layout of 1 and the crest color of 3 and 6.

    They all kinda look nice.

Just make sure that the logo is something you can read. The fonts are stuff are a bit hard on the eyes and layered on top of a very textured background it can be impossible to parse at a glance.

Surprisingly, people likes no. 1. A friend told me that 1 and 2 have too small text to be understand if the logo is small.

First one, but make all the text slightly more bold.

The gold/yellow font needs to be more bold; it's too thin. I'd personally put the subtext in a different font to distinguish it. Put that on the background of #1 and you'll be fine.

1, on the condition that the logo you've shown isn't going to be that size usually.

I like 7th one. Though do something about the font, it's very hard to read.

I like #2 because I was expecting the logo to highlight this particular adventure in some way. #2 seems to have a skull. However, it is extremely hard to see it. Agree with the others about the font. Maybe put the text above or below the crest. Possibly even both. Like the SDA above it and this particular mission text (skeleton king) below it.

Am I the only one who loves the color on 6?

Can it be simpler? Though I'm not sure how it would be used, I would prefer MUCH less clutter.

I would consider moving the text off the image completely. While overlapping sounds cool it makes it impossible to read.

I'm in general agreement with the sane members of the community that the red doesn't look good. ;)

I vote #4, as it looks the 'oldest' and I am assuming we're dealing with something old.

#4 for me. #1 and #3 are good alternatives. The #6/#7/#8 look kind of out of place to me.

The faded red to indicate that the shield is old and worn out and the bird as the house sigil, the yellow'ish color could be blue to my taste. But since it's your game logo you want it to catch the eye and kind of be 'out there'. So in that case I'd go with a combination of #1 and #5.

I just noticed that the subtitle of your game is 'the curse of the skeleton king' so maybe go with a skeleton head on the shield as a logo.

They're all bad. The text is not easy to read and there's a lot of it. If you're talking about a LOGO, and not like a main splash screen (?) .... then as a LOGO it should be much simpler and clearer and way less text. If it's a splash screen, that's different. But still.... the text is not easy to read. Nice that you have a funky font but strain-and-effort I have to make mentally/visually to actually digest the words and USE it (this is a usability issue), is not pleasant. The kind of rounded/embossed interior of the text also makes it harder to read, plus the drop shadow - seems like you're trying to outline the text to make it more readable, which is overcompensating for the fact it is fundamentally not easy to read. The `pointiness` of the text makes it kinda of too thin to read properly especially in the smaller font size. The big word `adventures` is the least difficult to read, due to its size. The letter E's in all of that text are unpleasant, the middle thing of the E is way too high, makes it seem like a weird F or something. And the capital S and the C are confusing.

In terms of backgrounds I like the green dragon, but you have to make some major usability improvements in the text or it's already turning me away.

If you're making a logo you should make sure it will scale down and still be readable. If you took any of those down to 64x64 it would not stand out from other similar images. It's also very low contrast, doesn't have any leading lines or particularly stand out in any way. The one with the green dragon is probably the easiest to recognize and remember while the others are essentially just remembered as "that shield thing".

It's also using a very common theme: Sword and Shield. When doing that you really have to make sure that you differentiate the logo from other similar themes. For instance take a look at Chivalry's Logo using a similar theme.

Notice its easy to read, high contrast, would scale down to icon size well and is sufficiently unique to separate it from other logos that use the sword and shield theme. When you're making an image 'easy to read' it doesn't really have anything to do with words or text - you shouldn't even have words in your small logos - rather it has more to do with being able to recognize what you're looking at when your eyes read it and how easy/quick it is to recognize what the logo represents.

Many thanks for your input everyone. I'll take them into consideration for the next iteration. Especially the Chivalry logo idea I liked and the contrast.
