Question Need guidance on creating a character and animation clips for it.

So, I've been using unity (learning game development) and adobe animate (to make animations that I've never really used anywhere) extensively for around a couple of months now. I learned a bit about the animator in unity and made basic animation clips, but I don't think that would be widely feasible for making an actual character animation clip such as a walk cycle. I can animate in adobe animate just fine, however. I don't really know how I'm going to use an animation clip that's been created using a third-party software inside of unity. I don't even know how I'm going to make a character inside Unity in the first place. Because how I've learned animation in Unity says that you need a character prefab first and then you can apply animation clips. I've downloaded character prefabs and animation clips for those characters to use them inside the animator, but I don't know how to go about creating any myself (the character or the clips). Please shed some light on me.
