N Render : WYSIWYG normal mapping tool

    Hi,

    Normal mapping sublimates your scenes, but the automatic generation of Unity is disappointing, and the use of external tool requiere of going back.

    N Render is WYSIWYG normal mapping tool, that turns texture into high quality normal map. (Available in November on Asset Store).

    Adjust the result with different parameters:
    *
    Specular Map
    * Contrast
    * Color level
    * Global & Detail parameter
    * Inverse
    * 3D / 2D Preview (Unity Free & Pro)
    * Load our own mesh​

    It will be at $15, it is awaiting approval from Unity, but right now they have a little delay .

    Great price as well, thanks :)

    I submitted an asset 2ond of October too and is still pending, so there is nothing strange there, probably it is a very busy period now.

    It's requiring Unity 4.5.3, you can download the evaluate version (look at the first topic)

    Got the pack, it is great.

    I left a review.

    One thing i would love to see is save the texture on the same directory as the source image, this would help a lot.

    EDIT: I post a sample pic with my settings, these seem to give a good result around the leaves for anyone else interested.

    Any suggestions on how i could perhaps get even better results are welcome.

    There is really no better result, but the one you want (It's very subjective)

    NRender 1.0.1 is available on assetstore:

    Version 1.0.1
    =============
    - Normal texture is saving on the same directory than the diffisue map.

    Bought!....awesome tool!
    Exactly what i was looking for!.

    Would be nice to have:
    - a dockable window tab.
    - a switch to set perspective/planar camera in 3d view.
    - a specular map generator.

    The problem is that on the Mac dockable window doesn't remain in the foreground for the drag and drop

    "- a switch to set perspective/planar camera in 3d view."
    You want to mean Perspective/Orthographic?

    "- a specular map generator."
    I will try to find a good algorithm

    But if you like this utility, let us review, it helps a lot

    - dockable window tab: you could add an option and leave user choice.
    - perspective/orthographic: yes sorry.
    - specular map generator: could be a great addition.

    Another fantastic feature could be to add a log file to store all setting during saving and so make possible to edit an already saved result.

    I like this Tool. Photoshop and NVIDIA Plugin is okay.. but not perfect. this one gives me the preview i missed in the PS plugin :D

    A good addition would be to load a Texture (speaking of a Sprite) as mesh. And a seperated Texture for the normalmap :)
    Currently i need to switch my Meshs texture to switch the Sprites i want to normalmap.

    Yes.. i´m creating a 2D RPG in Oldschool Rpg maker Camera View (and 2D Sprites with Smooth Moves and Uni2D). So i´m not using Meshs directly. instead i´m using simple 2D Sprites.

    So it would be great to make it possible to load a Texture (my Sprite) instead of a Mesh, too.

    Having this tool directly in the Unity editor is trully amazing, thanks for this, have been using it constantly since i got it.

    I was wondering about the specular maps too, do you think this feature could come later as well ?

    NRender 2.0 is coming, with full PBR suppport (Normal, Specular, Occlusion) available in the coming days...

    Thanks a lot,
    Bought it today and for creating simple material(like fabrics), with normal map, i now can avoid launching Bitmap2Material most of the time. Especially for fast prototypes. Really fast workflow now.
    Just some suggestions:
    When i drag a new texture on N Render window, i would like that the values(which i fine-tuned) stay, and not return to a default value. So i can create similar materials faster... Or a way to safe presets!
    It would also be a benefit, if i can drag the light source in the editor window(holding shift key like in Substance Designer?).
    Zoom in maps?
    Loading HDRs as light source?

    Yes you can, but it isn't a good idea because it's take some time to compute a normal map ...
