This is probably not only for Unity Hub, but it would be great if Unity would handle multiple logins per user more gracefully. For instance, in my own company, I have a plus subscription with an associated user account. For specific customers, I have a user account with their pro subscription. Since some assets are bought with the customer's subscription and some with my own subscription, it's literally hell to constantly have to log in and out between these accounts and losing connection with collab and other services.

    Hi,

Thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately we don't offer multi-user management as of now; However we can consider your use case for future iterations and figure out a way to make this less annoying for you.

We have the same problems. I think it's a common problem if you do a lot of contract work.

Thanks for your response. Would it then at least be possible to show the user ID instead of the full name (or additionally the User ID), so it's at least obvious with which user you're actually logged in?

Thanks. I've been debating, and getting differing advice from different people, whether to use two Unity accounts (one work, one personal), or just transition my personal one to work. It sounds as if the pain of keeping them separated will be short-lived.

I am wondering if this was included in 2019.x release cycle or is it still in development.

Yeah, this would be a cool feature, especially if we can have them both working at the same time in different editor instances (e.g. have one account for work, and another account for personal dev).

I currently use different MacOS users for each login so I don't have to re-login all the time, but it would be better to be able to use them both in the same profile (something like having a dropdown menu where you can select which account you're using on the current editor).

It would also be cool that Unity Hub remembers which user is being used on which project (so that when you start the project, the correct user would be signed in automatically).

@afshinity @AbrahamDUnity Any update on this ? This has been kind of a hassle lately, especially during these times most people are working from home, having to constantly switch between professional and personnal accounts.

Something great you should also consider is allowing third party logging like Google auth to open on the default web browser instead of embedded to allow fast logging in already opened sessions, I know the Nvidia Geforce Experience can do that now so there must be a way to handle this for you too ?

    Hi @Weidz_,

So good news is that we're moving to browser authentication soon so no more embedded login. Bad news is that we have no timeline for multi-user setups through the Hub. We explored the idea some time ago but it hasn't materialized into milestones. I will bring it up with the team once again but I can't guarantee anything. Sorry for the disappointment.

    Best,

Hello everyone, is there any update about this?
It is September already and we are in Unity 2020.1 and Hub 2.4.0... And still have to manually switch users.
A lot of people is still working at home... It is a feature that have always had a use case and now is more relevant than ever.

I hope Unity can find a way to implement it.

Just chiming in as another contractor with multiple accounts for multiple clients. The ability to just flip between accounts would reduce a lot of friction in my work. The problem is not just that we have to log out and log in for each account, it's that the credentials aren't even cached. Every time I switch I have to use a 2FA challenge and then reauthorize Unity for my Google-based accounts. That gets tiresome and might even be a security risk. It would be great to just click on a listbox somewhere and switch in the editor (similar to how Chrome does it).

Chiming in to support this feature-request. We are still MANY under lockdown who works from home, so switching accounts all the time is a pain. Even just caching our credentials so we dont have to go through the WHOLE ordeal every time would help a lot. Please give this priority if you can

+1 I'm not even the owner of the e-mail account, so I can't freely switch to my personal account, otherwise I need to call my boss in another country to log back in with the 2FA in place... This is tremendously annoying.

update: I found how switch between versions Unity license. I tried create another windows local user. Unity Hub work excellent, but it's not solve problem, because several users have only one path of file to license.

There is only one way to switch license: copy past file of license. File placed in "C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_lic.ulf".

    1) I Logged in my "job account" with Pro license and checked that it's active, then I closed Unity Hub
    2) Copy Unity_lic.ulf in somewhere, rename to Unity_lic_pro.ulf
    3) I Logged in my "personal account" with Free license and checked that it's active, then I closed Unity Hub
    4) Copy Unity_lic.ulf in somewhere, rename to Unity_lic_personal.ulf
    5) I logout from my account
    6) Copy & past need license of file to path and rename "C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_lic.ulf"
    7) Run Unity Hub and open need project (for job my jobs projects, for home my pet projects)

After one hour of find in google, I created .bat files to auto switch between license.

    Unity Personal.bat:
    Code (CSharp):
    1. taskkill /IM "Unity Hub*" /F
    2. timeout /T 1 /nobreak >nul
    3. copy /y E:\Unity_temp\Unity_lic_personal.ulf C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_lic.ulf
    4. start "" "C:\Program Files\Unity Hub\Unity Hub.exe"
    Unity Pro.bat:
    Code (CSharp):
    1. taskkill /IM "Unity Hub*" /F
    2. timeout /T 1 /nobreak >nul
    3. copy /y E:\Unity_temp\Unity_lic_pro.ulf C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_lic.ulf
    4. start "" "C:\Program Files\Unity Hub\Unity Hub.exe"
Change "E:\Unity_temp" to you files path. Help -> About Unity for check changes (serial number)

It would be nice to add authorization with Unity account, but Unity Hub a built on electron and I can't found the way for this

It's obvious unity creators who use it for work at least have a work account and their own. Please we all are waiting for this feature.

Switching unity log-ins is a very cumbersome and error-prone experience right now.

I would also like to switch more easily between my personal id and my work id as I am not allowed to use the professional version for personal projects.

Edit: I also just realised that I can not switch back as the authorization website seems to cache my previous credentials. It doesn't even ask which account I want to log in to. I intentionally unticked the "Remember me" checkbox before logging into the work account.
Edit 2: Logging out on the Unity website seems to fix the second issue.

Maybe and only maybe you can launch it from the same MacOSX user profile, but running it in the terminal with:

    su "other_mac_user" open /Applications/Unity\ Hub.app

I'm trying to tackle this with a similar solution on Windows, by making a .bat launcher with the following code:

    runas /savecred /user:PersonalAccount "C:\Program Files\Unity Hub\Unity Hub.exe"

But i'm stuck at the login screen. I think the Hub is trying to display this screen with my real user instead of the personal account I'm using to launch the Unity Hub.

I have been able to do this by first starting the Hub from the other Windows account, logging in, and then from the account I want to work on by launching the launcher.bat.

Also, as I only want to have one user on the windows login screen, I have hidden this secondary Windows account that I use to launch Unity Hub. If you want to know more about: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-hide-specific-user-accounts-sign-screen-windows-10

    Hey folks!
I know you're bumping this thread because this feature is wanted, but please do not necropost/bump old threads! We always encourage users to create new ones for requests, issues and whatnots.

We're aware of this request and, as I said before, it's on our radar!
Thank you so much for bringing this to the light!

I'll close this thread for now! ;)
