MotionMuse version 1.0.7 is now available on Steam:

    Version1.0.7.png

Version 1.0.7 implements video references in the form of Media Overlays. Image Overlays are renamed to Media Overlays and now support videos. With support for multiple video formats including AVI, MP4, MKV and MOV the user can load a variety of videos to quickly trace out an animation by syncing the overlay with the timelime. Start and end of synced video segments can be specified within the timeline to precisely block the animation segment. Media overlays also support 2D/3D switching so that the user can match the video frame with the character in the viewport for ease of tracing. This version also improves quality of life by fixing crashing issues and bugs when loading MUS files. The full list of changes is available at:

MotionMuse Version 1.0.8 introduces our GLTF/GLB 2.0 Json based exporter. The exporter is capable of exporting GLTF files (GLTF + Texture + bin) into folders or can combine the data into a single GLB file. Extensions have been added to the export dialog. The exporter had to be written from scratch as existing exporters were causing issues with differing properties and exporting to the GLB format. Some features may not be work properly, including material properties, transparency and "Export Selected". We are working on fixing these issues. This version also streamlines the UI as not to scare first time users; and also fixes some of the bugs and errors.

    Version1.0.9.png

Version 1.0.9 is now available and adds the ability to hide/show joints in the viewport using the treeview. This has far reaching consequences as hidden joints do not participate in sketching and/or retargeting. This essentially simplifies the retargeting process, as now the user can precisely match the skeletons by hiding problematic joints in either the source or target skeletons. Similarly intermediary joints can cause problems when sketching, simply hiding them now enables the user to sketch previously un-sketchable limbs. This version also fixes some bugs and crashes, the full change log can be found here:

MotionMuse Version 1.1.0 brings a quality of life update. It adds selecting meshes and toggling individual mesh visibility along with many bug fixes. A toolbar button is also added to quickly toggle visibility of a selected object(s). Mesh icons are added to the TreeView for quick selection. We are in the process of updating our application architecture to support upcoming tools, which may take some time. Thus a lot of under the hood changes have also been made which will come to light in future updates. The full changelog can be found at:

Version 1.1.1 introduces weight painting to MotionMuse. A new button in the toolbar can be used to active weight paint mode after selecting at least one mesh (which will turn dark blue). The user can then alter the weights for a selected joint for these meshes. Joint selection can be made using the control key. The weights appear as a color spectrum from green to red. Options to paint using auto-normalized weights, bone X-mirroring and face or mesh through painting are also available in the new weight paint panel. Sliders to control the strength, weight and brush radius have also been added. Since this is our first attempt at rigging tools it may have some bugs and errors. We will fix these over time and will be adding new features using this base - such as automatic weight painting with joint and bone rigging. The full change log is available at:

Version 1.1.2 is an overhaul of the underlying systems in terms of better user experience. The application is now more responsive and has been optimized at various places to remain interactive under heavy workloads. A new key-editor has been implemented that can handle long animation curves and is fast and interactive even when stressed with thousands of keys and curves. The Undo/Redo system has also been optimized to handle large changes effectively. Various bugs and errors have also been fixed, with the full change log available at:

Version 1.1.3 introduces Joint creation and skeleton editing. The user can add joints and bones using the new joint creation mode added to the ToolBox. Joints can be removed using the 'del' key / trash button. This mode can be used to create a new skeleton or extend existing skeleton(s). There is no way to bind meshes to newly created joints yet. We are working towards this and will be adding this to fully rig a character. For now, only skeletons can be created, animated and exported. More will be added in upcoming updates. Version 1.1.4 adds the ability to modify the bind matrix for each mesh for each joint. Selecting a mesh and a joint effecting its vertices (skin/cluster) the user can now modify the bind matrix using sliders. Sliders and min/max ranges for rotation and translation have been added to the Rigging panel in order to set these. This will come in handy during the skinning process (coming in the future). This version also simplifies the GUI by integrating various different panels into a single Object properties panel. Joint, Light, IKEffector and Preferred posture panels are now merged into a single panel which shows the respective properties based on selected objects. Some characters with bind matrix adjustment may not export properly, we are working on fixing these issues. The full changelog for this version is as follows:
