I personally have not met many programmers who dislike Visual Studio, and I'm a mighty big Visual Studio junkie myself :-D.

I'd love to have breakpoints working with Visual Studio. I am curious, what setbacks are there to making this possible, especially since MonoDevelop already has them. Unless MonoDevelop handles them radically differently, I would not think the jump would be that great.

    Cheers.

Although I'm a big fan of visual studio, I have little hope for this feature.
As VS is windows-only, Unity is probably not going to spend development effort in something that only half their user-base can take advantage of.
I was hoping some code wizard would tackle this and get rich from all of us buying his solution in the asset-store, but alas...

That is part of the reason why I'd like to learn more about the hindrances.

I have experimented with Visual Studio making plugins, such as creating an automatic "Play in Unity" button. If I have some background on MonoDevelop debugging Unity, I might be able to whip something together.

Perhaps a developer can provide some insight?

    Cheers.
