I noticed that with 2.6, selecting Visual Studio as the script editor works perfectly however if I select MonoDevelop, it only opens the file in MonoDevelop, does not create the structure and everything. Is this planned? Is there a way to create those files, like an option in a menu, so I can use MonoDevelop on a Mac. This would allow me to completely switch my development process to all Mac.

I noticed there is a Sync VisualStudio Project option in the Assets menu, does that just create/update the solution/project files? That way I could at least hit that button and then load the MonoDevelop manually (have to wait till I get back home to be able to test on my mac)

The sync button creates a *.sln file in your project folder. Open this file in monodevelop and it should work.

Good to know I will be able monodevelop on my mac. Mabye once monodevelop is out of beta, we will get the same integration that we have for visual studio.

I have Mono Develop set up on my mac, and it is a big improvement over Unitron, although it definitely has a ways to go before visual studio or xcode will be quaking in their boots. Still, thanks to all who have made it an option.

Anyway, I was hoping that I would be able to use it to compile Unity code so I could get compile-time bugs out of the way quickly, but this doesn't seem to be the case: it complains about Boo.lang and that is the end of things. Am I missing something?

    Thanks,

Has somebody tried to use Visual Studio as external script editor on Mac in 2.6 (with parallels or vmware)?

I could manually browse for VS in the preferences dialog, but Unity won't auto-generate a solution then. :(

    Any hints?

I'm using Unity with Visual Studio on the Mac, and a few others do, too. See also Unity Answers: Visual Studio Alternatives for the Mac (I'm currently posting an answer there, saying "the alternative IS Visual Studio" and including some resources, came across this posting while trying to find another thread related to this subject ;-) ).

seems this feature only support vs as external editor, it will be such more exciting that if vs can do debugging for unity.. like single step, break point, etc..:)
