MonoDevelop not working in latest version 4.1.5

Many thanks sonicviz. Struggled with this all morning: and this worked a treat:

"I looked through my installed programs and found a "GTK# for .net" installed so removed it and mono started properly afterwards"

Now on version 4.2.1 Unity - please fix or at least throw up a warning on install if this is installed!

4.2.2f1 Pro, Monodevelop not working. I don't have GTK#, i don't even know what that is or how to look for it. Please fix your software, i have paid for this and i am not going to put up with a non working product.

This has been known for Months and is not fixed.

I just upgraded to Unity 4.3.1 (installed over last version) which immediately broke clicking on C# files to auto-open them in monodevelop, plus plus openening monodevelop directly just craps out (technical term) won't load project, and it opened the c# file in notepad instead ???!!!

So I did a complete UNity uninstall, reinstall and reimport (a very big) project.... that fixed things...phew! but only for 1 day, until I re-booted my PC.
now launching Unity immediately gets a crash...

Failed to load Mono
Failed to load mono library from C:/program files......

I read through the thread above, but can't find anything useful.
I don't know what this is, or where to find it... doesn't appear in my programs list. Gtk# ??

any other ideas? or anyone else having this issue with 4.1.3 windows7 ?
