    Moderators, please kindly let this thread be it's own thread and not move it to a thread bunched up with others. This project is actively being developed. Testing has started on Google Play and the game is evolving regularly.

    Introduction:

    "This is the beginning of a very fun and exciting MMORPG journey. The journey starts off at a school that has become chaotic. The teachers are gone. Probably eaten by zombies... Now the kids are free to do what they please! Sounds like fun?

    But wait... There are consequences that come with not having any authorities around. Bullies used to back off when a teacher walks by. What happens now? What would you do in such a school? It seems that we're back to the basics where it comes down to the survival of the fittest!"

    About:

    Hello MMO fans! This game project is currently in experimental mode. It is only at the initial phase of the road map at this point but it will still be very fun to play!

    The goal of this project to to create an MMORPG that is simple to play, but at the same time gives you complete freedom. We also want to create an environment that you can do lots of things in. Right now it is basically free for all, everyman for himself. The next phase of this game will be to build another school next to the current school. Students will cooperate with their own schoolmates to defend against the rival school kids. You can also infiltrate the other school and take their treasures for better rewards such as money, items, and level-ups.

    In the meantime, please have fun with what's available and watch this game evolve. Your participation and support will help us shape this app into the MMORPG that everyone is always hoping for!

    One of the things I've always hated in games is the props that do nothing. Like a vending machine that is just for looks, a car that you cannot enter, etc. This is why I'm introducing the concept of Interactive Objects in this game. I've established an extensible framework that can be attached to any objects that were previously just a useless "prop" ( I literally have them in the "props" folder in Unity) and make them interact-able.

    With the interactive object attached, a player can walk up to the object and a "Use" button will pop up which the user can either ignore and walk away making it fade away or press it, which will bring up a menu of things to do with the object. This week I've just added a sitting action, so basically anything you can sit on like a chair, stool, toilet, or a swing can be interacted with. There will of course be much more actions coming! eg. hiding in a garbage can or a locker to hide from school bullies!

    There is a massive amount of objects that players can own in the game but people are greedy, they want to own houses too! They want to be able to go home from a hard day of school and relax! Well I don't blame them!!

    I'm currently working on property ownership for the game, I had already modeled a lower end bachelor's suite for the frugal players but what fun is a property that has nothing in it? That's why I want to let the players buy furnitures and decorate their home too! How's that gonna happen.. well that's why I got side tracked and had to make an interactive object system(see previous post). With that system in place, they will be able to buy furnitures then arrange them as they wish!

    Stay tuned.. there's much more to come and this is just the beginning of the project!

    Property ownership was released a couple months ago. Currently there are 2 properties to purchase: Bachelor's Suite, and Cozy Cabin. There will be more in the future! Once inside the property you will be able to buy furnitures and arrange them however you want via the interactive object UI! Your property is currently exclusive to yourself, meaning nobody else will be able to enter your property. This will change in the future where you can invite friends over.

    I enjoy adding new features to the game but there are a few things that always slow me down. Laziness, Bugs that need to be fixed, and Quest Approvals.

    Since players are allowed to write quests for the community to play, there is bound to be a bunch of jokers that write complete junk. That's why when a quest is first written, it goes into a pending state where I have to personally read and approve or reject it. This is time consuming as it takes me an hour everyday to read them. When quest maker was first being developed I had wanted to make the process distributed amongst the community but due to the high demand of quests at that time I had to make to with just me approving the quests just so I can push the quest maker features out ASAP to fill the game with quests to avoid players getting bored.

    Last week I finally had enough of the distraction of new quests coming in each day. So I sucked it up and dropped all my tasks at hand and implemented the Community-Governed Quest Approval Process. Now players who have been approved of writing good quests enough times will be deemed capable of approving or declining other people's newly submitted quests. They will only have to do this once in a while, as the task is distributed across so many players that it won't feel like a chore, but rather a cool experience!

    All other players who read already approved quests will get the option to flag a quest as Junk. If enough players flag a quest a junk, the quest will be pushed back to the pending approval queue and the process starts all over again, approved or decline(deleted forever).

    I'm really happy about this release because now I can concentrate on the next feature set!

    One of the top demanded features lately is for the game to be group agnostic. The buzz word going around the hallways is "Clan". It is so important for players to form groups that they adhoc-ed their on solutions by adding the clan name in the beginning of their player description field. However, this would mean anyone could say they belong to a certain clan.

    This is the current feature I am implementing. For such a simple idea, it is actually quite a bit of work. Lots of GUIs need to be created for players to manage their clan relations. For example, starting a new clan, inviting a new member, accepting a clan invitation, marking a clan member as clan admin which allows him to invite others, kicking a clan member out... etc etc..

    Those are just the first requirements of the basic clan features! After that I still have to allow clans to buy their own land and build their town/city. Then allow clans to have clan wars by invading/defending their land. Allowing clan land will be an extension of Property Ownership. It will also mean that I have to re-visit Property Ownership and enable invitation of friends to your property, then build on top of that the clan land/clan war feature set.

    Phew... 3 paragraphs to describe the high level requirement but I think it will be a few more lines in code!

    Stay tuned! This is gonna be a huge features released in several stages.

    MMORPG Project was originally released on Android ONLY. I had no intention of releasing the game on other platforms. However, many players of the game told their friends on IOS about it and I end up getting many emails asking why not for IOS! After a couple months of requests I decided to make it available for IOS, which was less work than I had originally dreadingly estimated.

    Since I managed to get the game working in IOS, I decided to get it on Amazon Appstore too. Now there are 3 stores that have the game! Cool? Let's see..

    Whenever a feature came out, prior to the game being available on multiple platforms here are somethings that I have to take care of.

    Clients who did not update to the latest version might have to be connected to an older version(s) of the server component, while the clients who have the latest version will connect to the latest server component. I have to make sure of the clients are not compatible with each other that they won't be in the same dimension. However, because I'd like to have all my players be able to see each other if they choose to, I keep the separation period as short as possible by pretty much first recommending the players to update their client as soon as the update is in Google Play, then after a few hours forcing them to update. This means most of the time all players will be on the latest version in the same dimension. This is already sort of complicated to deal with as compared to a single player game that you can submit updates without any kind of process.

    With 3 different platforms out there this is now much more complicated. I can't release daily features to Google Play as before anymore. If I release a new feature that isn't compatible with the previous version I'm going to have to submit it to IOS/Amazon first, then wait 1-2 weeks for Apple/Amazon to review and release. Then after that I can release it to Android in order to time the release so they all come out at the closest possible time to reduce the time of player feature/dimension/version fragmentation.

    Above all that, when I used to only deal with Android and a release contains a critical bug, or any bug for that matter.. I simply have to fix it and release it and force an update to the clients and problem solved! Now, if a critical bug is introduced and released to IOS, I'll be sitting there collecting 1 star reviews for 1-2 weeks before I get to fix it :(

    This leads me to the question. Are streaming assets possible for code or just prefabs? If so, I'd love to know. Perhaps I'll post a new thread to ask this question as it would make my life 100x easier!

    Thanks! ElectroTank. It's a great product, though I've never tried any others so I can't make any comparison. I chose this because the server is done in Java and that's where most of my experience lie.

    Clan Features has been release to Google Play for a few days now. This is a long-awaited feature that many players have been demanding and waiting for. Many clans have already been created and players are loving it! So how does this work?

    Almost all functions in the game are done through Items and Interactive Objects. To start a clan the player would purchase the Clan Master item and use it. A form would pop open to allow the player to enter clan information. Once it is saved, the recruiting process can start!

    To recruit, simply walk up to any player you are already friends with and use the interaction menu to invite the player to your clan. The player will then get a notification of the invite. If he or she accepts it, then he/she's in the clan. The clan leader can also give you Admin privilege which allows you to invite others to the clan thus growing your clan infinitely!

    Once a player accepts the invitation a Clan Badge would be added to the inventory which can be used to view the clan info and stats, and also can be used to quit the clan.

    The Computer Station in the Rest Area also has a score board that tracks how each clan is doing in terms of Beat Downs.

    This is the Basic Clan Features. There will be more advanced features coming!

    i just hate something about this game......when u try to fight with somebody weaker than you,says ''çannot pick on the weak unless PROVOKED'' ok!! i understand that,but the problem is....if i am in a quest sometimes people stronger than me kill me.....but i have not provoked them....how its that possible?

    I (apspw11) started playing, and got my brother (gprpw11) to play, and he accidentally skipped the who invited you page, right after you make an account. How can he show the game that he was invited by me, and I get the BOSS thing? Btw LOVE your game

    I hope there is more added to the elite room, like maybe an easier way to get tags (More challenging quests maybe?) Because I recently ranked up to level 30 after grinding my way through hundreds of missions, and I think elites should be able to get more tags, because all the items require either a higher level than 30, or hundreds of VIPs. The only way to really advance is to scam people, pay for VIPs or spend the next 3 years constantly grinding missions non-stop.

    I have a question ..

    Me and 2 other friends play this game .. but not sure what happen .. we cant actually play together .. its seem we are not conected each other .. is it because of our version is different or any possibility because of samsung or apple users?

    Hello VNL I would just like to say that I have found a bug in the game. I'm not sure if it has been fixed yet but I just wanted to let you know. In the clan room place you can kind of scale the wall and then you can walk in midair for a certain are of space near the ceiling. Hope this helps, ElectroDominator
