    thank you for the reply.

    i have been in the chat, but all the chat history has been removed, so no way to read previous posts.
    i even asked around in the chat and they did not know about it.

    the last email i received was 2 weeks ago about the delay for next week after that date, but nothing after that.


    So you guys going to release the update tomorrow Saturday?

    For a lot of us, chat channels are too big of a distraction and we rely on the forums to keep up to date. This and the post 3 hours ago on the official Atavism forums was the first I've seen of an update in a bit. Would be nice if you guys could make it a point to at least post there, if not here and there both, for those of us who don't use the chat channels. I've already started looking at other alternatives in case you guys don't come through. I've been wondering if you guys have bitten off more than you can chew trying to do both Neo's and Atavism at the same time. :(

    Well the reason Atavism is so good is because we are making Neos Land so can see first hand what is needed for developers as we need those things as well to make Neos Land. So many developers just makes a system thinking its right but have not tested in a real game environment. Ill keep this forum with current information, but yeah we have lost going on so its not easy to keep everything up to date as the most important thing for us is to get the updates coming out. Not sure but we try and keep the roadmap up to date but it does not show as a new post so check it regularly as well on Atavism Forum.

    Y'all need to quit being so hard on them.. They are updating this more than anything else I have seen around here, and they are very active. I don't know what y'alls problem is, but you should have just a little more patience.

    +1 to that. I think this team is doing an amazing job adding as much as they have. Its hard enough making a multiplayer app at all. This one really is a mmo framework. Everyone is lucky someone at all is providing this. Most would use it as their own engine and not share it.

    well, nobody is being hard on anyone,
    and that was not the intention at all.

    what was meant to be is to keep us informed on the status.
    we all know that as a game developer there will always be bugs and delays etc...
    that is not the issue, the issue is the information update on the status.

    and this is very common sense and applies to anything.
    lets say you and i have a commitment to meet in downtown coffee shop to a business meeting at 4,
    but something came up and i could not make it, so i call you at 4 or before 4, "hey bud, you know, something came up and i can not make it, but ill see you tomorrow at 4 ok?"

    then next day at 4 something else comes up so i call you again , "hey bud , its me again, i can not make it again, so lets reschedule it for next week."

    then next week i call you again to reschedule due of something else came up, etc....

    altho we could never meet within the time committed, i always kept on call you and rescheduling out of respect instead of leaving without any update on the status of the meeting.

    tell me what would happen if i never called you on every rescheduled meeting, you would not even go the the next meeting at all, why? because you loose credibility on me for all the stood ups i left you without any cancellation notice.

    well the principle applies anywhere and anyone.
    out of respect we all have to at least communicate one way or another to any commitment we may have if one can not make it to the commitment previously made.

    but that is just me, maybe others do not care at all when something like this happens.

    BTW, has anyone being able to connect to the NEOS land chat?
    ive been trying all day long without any success, is it down? or full?

    Hi we changed the chat as it was disconnecting and not coming back. So the new chat is still linked to Neos land website under community, live chat. Here is a link for it as well. Don't worry its not that bad to keep us on our toes, if there is a problem we want to community to complain so we can try and rectify it. Next update has not yet been released but very soon, as we are working hard on it and it should be in the next few hours.

    We are still testing the crafting system that in this up coming release so its still going to be a while. Most likely be send out in emails tomorow morning early, just to keep you up to date.

    Our game will be made with the RPG 2 Kit but I am planning on using you guys for a version offshoot of our game. The main game is not made to be full mmo but using much of our same assets we will use your engine for the same theme based variation of our game. We like the way that you can create much of the game at runtime with your engine. This has opened us up to an avenue of game play that will fit perfect in our planned series of games based off this theme. We do not want to use your voxel engine but the rest is just what we need.

    I will post as much of that game as we are willing to let out once you get the community licence ready and we can put part of our team to work on it. By then our main game will be ready to announce.

    Update 1.5 has been released. Emails has been send, if you have not received a update email please send em a email to infor@neojac.com . We will be releasing documentation and full release note later today on version 1.5 update and how to upgrade your server and database without a full install so you don't lose your data in your database. What I can say is we have the following systems in; Quests system, dialog system, factions, basic crafting system. AtVoxel terrain system release has been moved to 22 March. If you haven't yet bought access to closed Alpha plugin there is still a few seats left.     Seems we have a few bug with this release which was expected seeing Andrew worked till early morning hour to get it out. There is a Claims error which we will be fixing later today.

    We started Atavism Editor with 5 plugins and now we have over 14 and the keep coming. Current plugins are:

    - Data Base : where you set your data base connections up.
    - Instances : To setup different Instances if you want like dungeons and so on or battle grounds to be instanced.
    - Mobs : Setting up your mobs so you can spawn them in real time in game.
    - Loot Tables : You setup different loot tables with percentage drop rate and attached the loot tables to a mob so when you kill it, it drops that loot.
    - Items : Setup different items for your game with options for weapons, junk, material, consumables, armor.
    - Skills : Create your skills for your game and set it to classes if you with and add abilities to the skills and which level a player can get them.
    - Abilities : Create abilities for your players which they can use in combat or for anything else . Abilities are linked to effects.
    - Effects : Create different effects like a heal effect or say a sword swing effect that does bonus damage , and so on.
    - Quests : Create quests for your game and have them in a chain or as single quests.
    - Dialog : Add different dialog to NPC's which are triggered when a player gets near them or when a player clicks on them, you can also add options for a player to respond to the dialog and they can then activate different quests or guide a player to a place.
    - Factions : Set different factions for your game and also how you want players to gain favor with each faction. Good for PvP war style games as well.
    - Stats : Setup the different stats for each player when they start or as they progress in game.
    - Damage : Set different damage types for your game which will be used in combat.
    - Player Character Setup : Use this plugin to setup[ what race, spawning place and equipment you players will start with when they start the game.

    As you can see we have allot of options for customizing your game and we are adding to them regularly.

    also, wasnt a new plugin about crafting that was donated by some user? is it already included in this release or do we need to get it from somewhere else?

    The crafting is in yes, but its not yet added to the Atavism Editor so you have to do it manually at the moment. And yes bug fixes are with same download link.

    Atavism Unity v1.5 Release Notes
    17th March 2014

    Note: The Atavism Unity tools are still in alpha and as such may contain numerous bugs and so e features will be missing.

    New Features:
    First release of quest system
    - Developers can create quests, assigning pre-requisites, objectives and setting rewards.
    - Start and End quests properties can be given to mobs
    - Dialogue UI added in when talking to mobs allowing players to start and hand in quests.
    - Quest log to keep track of quests and abandon unwanted ones.

    Faction management
    - Users can now create factions, along with setting default stances/attitudes to other factions allowing for different interactions between mobs and players.

    Crafting
    - The first version of the crafting system created by the Greedmonger team has been included. Recipes can be defined in the craftingplugin.py script in the config/world folder on the server.

    Dialogues
    - The first phase of the dialogue system has been implemented allowing NPC’s to be given dialogue that players can read when interacting with them. The current stage only allows for single dialogues to be used on an NPC with the system being fully fleshed out next update.

    Other Improvements
    Coordinated Effects can now be added to the database and set to an ability in the Ability plugin.
    Ability prefabs are now automatically generated when creating or editing Abilities in the Atavism Unity editor.
    Time fields in the database have all been changed to seconds from milliseconds (and as such are stored as floats) to make them easier to work with.
    The Atavism Unity Editor now re-loads data each time a user changes plugin so newly created data can be used in other plugins without having to close and open the tool again.

    Fixes:
    The Atavism Unity editor now saves data to the right id after switching between edit and create modes.
    The chat controller no longer interferes with other input UI.


    Bugs:
    The increase of stats when levelling up is not following proper profession rules. The stat system will be re-written for next release to improve the way stats are gained when levelling.

    Notes: Users wishing to not lose their mob and item data in the database can instead run the world_content_combat_update.sql file instead of the world_content.sql file.

    Just saw this video posted on our forum showing a zombie game he is making. Best part is he has only had Atavism engine for 4 days and already has his world going with mobs. Just shows how fast you can get your MMO game going using Atavism!!

    so for me to be able to alter thing in this engine I have to buy the 340 Developers Package correct. will be able to import models change the iinterface style. because I wanted a gui interface similar to star wars and diablo style. and will there be support for Companions in the future.another question what about if I want to add more plugins or change some. what about tutorials are there any or how to's and how much programing do you need because I am not a programmer.

    Well you don't need to program any plugins, as we have a very wide range of plugins and more are added weekly nearly. There is also already a nice community of developers who is creating plugins and sharing with others using Atavism. There is also developers who will be creating and selling plugins. As for models you can do what ever you want just like if you where making a normal Unity scene and also build mobs and so on easily, if you don't want the models we are giving with the $340 package you can get the $70 pledge and upgrade to Veteran license for additional $120 for a total of $190 to create your own plugins. UI and so on is easy to change using our standard demo ui which you can just re-skin or using other UI assets like NGUI.

    We have had a good response on our lattes test run with Neos Land that's still running. There is still bugs but its helping us fix many errors to make Atavism flow easily. Thanks to all that is participating in the test runs.

    New Roadmap Update coming this weekend. Because we have been adding more things than whats stated on teh roadmap and also need a week to clean up the code a but that we have been putting out we will be doing a new roadmap this weekend so stay tuned.

    Can the housing system(building houses) be used in a non-mmo and so not rely on your concurrent user licenses?

    We are a few releases in to our last Roadmap and it's pretty clear that some changes are needed to keep the high standard of quality we want for Atavism (in particular, how user friendly it is).

    To accommodate this we are taking an extra month to spend time fixing bugs, adding in the little missing bits here and there (and a few new features that we didn't plan for) and doing a general tidy up of all the code. It is important to get this done now so that when we release the source code for the server at the start of Beta we give you code that is tidy and won't be changing all the time. The hope is that once Beta starts there will be minimal updates to the code people are given and it is the under-the-hood code that has all the work on it.

    We also plan to do a big push on the documentation of the system and the creation of an API. Video tutorials will also be created.

    We thank you for your patience, we know you'd love to have all the new features as soon as possible, but we want to make sure they get to you in an easy to use way.

    Added March 31 2014

    Phase 1:
    1) End of Alpha test release - 26th April
    This will be the almost ready for beta release which we want lots of testing on to find all the bugs we are missing. This will include:
    - Full functionality added for Quests and Dialogues
    - New, easier to work with system for special effects for combat (Coordinated Effects)
    - Secondary remote account database connection – such as letting people login from accounts on a website
    - Additional skill system options allowing for more varied skill progression systems
    - Improved Mob management allowing control of their stats giving a more balanced combat experience
    - A few other minor improvements based on testing

    Phase 2: Core Server Functionality ( Beta)
    2) Start of Beta - 17th May
    The ready to be sold on the market version of Atavism. Will include a paging terrain system designed to work well with Atavism.

    4) Server Side Collision - 7th June

    - Navmesh collision generation in Unity that can be copied to and run on the server
    - Navmesh editing on the server
    5) Authoritative Player Control - 21st June

    - Server implementation of character control to verify characters position and movements from the client input.

    - Mobs pathfinding system upgraded to use server collision to accurately move around the world.

    - Both combat and non-combat pets that follow you around the world

    When is the plugin development stuff going to be released? Some of us are still waiting for news on that.. *sighs* Also seems that the roadmap STILL lacks information on the building system that lured many of us to buy in to the alpha after seeing it in the videos.. :(

    Building stuff is already in, we just need to do documentation on it so wont be long, plugin creation we have a few people testing it , but haven't released it to all as we need to have documentation for it as well. That's why the change in time with the roadmap so we can get those documentation in to support the plugin creation among other stuff. Our biggest push is to document stuff now and make tutorials.

    We will have to release the AtVoxel this Saturday as we need to release a update to the server as well as there is changes server side that works with the AtVoxel. With teh server update this Saturday one thing you will have is the ability to create NPC' with UMA now. So you can start populating your game with npc's. Its still early stage NPC system so you will have to do some stuff manual like set the numbers for their morphs.

    AtVoxel plugin closed Alpha emails has been send out, those who has bought it now have access to it and can make a infinite voxel based terrain. Have fun playing around with this plugin!!

    I am part of a new development team that is looking for something like Atavism to use with Unity to get started with our first project. I watched one of your YouTube videos and you stated your project will not be used for FPS games. I am wondering with your statement above to John G. that you are considering this as a combat style. Our project will be FPS heavy on the combat side with a large crafting feature so if Atavism will not support FPS for combat we will have to look at other options. Please let me know here or please email me at King_Stinger75@Hotmail.com if we can work together as I plan on the top package for our project that you offer. Thanks for your assistance.

    New UMA upgrade scheduled for Saturday. Yes by Saturday you will be able to use the latest version of UMA which will also include NPC creation with UMA system for your game.

    Have a few questions.

    - How much would we be able to change the core game mechanics using the Atavism Information Game System (AGIS)?

    - Will AGIS allow us to add completely new game system into the game?

    - What is actually being controller by the server that we will not have access to changing? Said that the server is complied and we would not have access to it.

    - If we were to use your server will the server ever contact you (your servers) for any reasons? Meaning if we start using the server and the server goes has to contact your servers remotely for any reason that would put you in a place of complete control over every company who uses this server software.

    So we are adding all basic system plugins for free that is needed to create a MMO game, which currently is already at 15 different plugins, later when we start doing specialized plugins we will be selling those.

    You can do anything with the core game mechanics if you have the developers package (Veteran License) , the system is build on a plugin system so you can create your own plugins for any game mechanic you want and even be able to sell it to others if you want. You can also modify existing plugins to suit your needs.

    Its mostly connection stuff that you don't need to change, so far in alpha we have had no problems with developers creating their own plugins and this part of the code being closed.If there is something you require to change we will be more than happy to do that for you.

Meaning if we start using the server and the server goes has to contact your servers remotely for any reason that would put you in a place of complete control over every company who uses this server software.
    No we add in code that just checks your CCU base in your server and if it reaches the max you are allowed according to your license , it will not allow the players in till someone leaves. If you have unlimited CCU then nothing happens. But your server never contacts our servers in any why so there is no information transferred from your server or database at all and we do not control anything server side at all. That's why we don't host peoples servers like other places.

    Having a small problem, unity crashed, which caused the layout to be reverted back to default. Now though the atavism interface isn't in the menu dropdown. Is there any other way to load it up?

    I've tried to reload unity aswell as atavism to no avail.

    Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Did you try and re-import the atavism package, basically just the AtavismUnity folder as that's the editor and the restart Unity.

    Yeah I've tried that. It seems now that whatever I try and import, be it Atavism, Terrain Composer, Unity Space etc, none of the menus/ interfaces are appearing in the "Windows" menu. I'm completely stumped with this at the moment. >.<
