Firstly, I want to say that it's great Mixamo started offering such a variety of characters on the asset store.

But, two of the characters completely baffle me. I don't have the direct link, but the Fantasy Female 01 by OF, $600, and the Faster Man by CWC, $800.

Now, I'm not going to tell you how to do your pricing, but those prices seem a bit high considering (unless it's just not posted there) neither of these models come with animations. They are both good quality models, but I for one wouldn't pay $600 - $800 for a model with one texture and no animations. What makes them different than the $60 - $85 models, besides SLIGHTLY higher texture quality?

Just my two cents, take it as you will.

    +1

I also don't understand the mixamo price politics. I consider even 40$ - 80$ for a model without animation is a little high priced. Maybe the 600$ model should make the 60$ model look like a bargain.

Do you know that one character can cost 5000$ so 800$ is cheap if character is made to be next-gen and hq.

Just looked it up cause I hadn't seen it and tbh if it were 2k polygons it would be worth every penny but at 21k polygons....no amount of looking good is going to help.

Often when prices get that high the character rights are exclusive to whoever bought that character or the model is extremely detailed and high poly. It isn't that way with the Mixamo models.

As far as I know, those models are 100% compatible with Mixamo animations.
I understand you are posting because you can't understand why the price is so high compared to their other offerings. I have to say, anyway, that Asset Store is becoming a cheap place, and 60$ (a pro model) is way too cheap for anyone pretending to make this his way of life. (I know there are great models for that price on AS).
600$ is shocking, in my opinion, because the target here is different. I don't think they will sell more than one, but I hope I am wrong.

    Hi Guy's,

I totally agree with what you are saying about the price. I run Tiger Shark Studios and I was shocked when I saw those prices. I have been in the industry for over 20 years and the $600 to $800 price is on par with Xbox 360 PS3 game content. For what the Asset Store is, I think that price is too high. So if you require quality bespoke models at a far price range. Send us an email of what your looking for and we can it get made up for you.

    Best Regards,

    Tiger Shark Studios.

Those companies selling at those high prices are art outsourcing companies in China.

Well some people sure will consider anything above 100$ too much, if you look at the shots of the models in question they look to be extremely high quality, especially compared to a lot of the trash available on the store.

If the Mixamo guys want to sell it for 500$+, let them, no one is forcing you to buy it. If I needed a model like these two, I would without no doubt buy them for the current price. Especially since they are compatible with ALL of their animations.

The price is fine, really. It's quality stuff, and not the standard low quality crap that is on sale on the asset store.

Im not so sure about that to be honest - the Fantasy Female character ($600) that is featured at the moment has 20k poly, but looks rather low in detail and the same visuals could be achieved in 4k or less imo and there is obvious texture stretching in the screenshots too.

Obviously they are free to do whatever they like, but I wouldn't expect too many sales for that

    yep.. a new project.
started this morning, domain/website/database/integration into unity editor

    maby three days..

    UnAmations.com
    Unity3D MoCap Character Animation library

This site is dedicated to providing free and inexpensive characters and motion captured based
animations. All assets are run through the Unity3D game engine and the web player will show you
exactly what your getting. I have decided to use two common rigs(bones), one female and one male.
This allows me to re-target my entire library of mocaps, much more easily!! Take a look at some of my
video captures and sample web players.

My pricing structure is simple, all base animations are FREE!! *.
All male/female animations will work with any male/female character

    All Base Character are $10.00!!
    3 LODs
    3 Textures Mat/Nrm/Spec @ 2048 [one uv]

    AA Characters are $30.00
    3 LODs
    3 Textures Mat/Nrm/Spec @ 2048 [one uv]
High Res Sculpted Detailed Normal Map.

*animations include only the unity3D copy, and you will have to look at a LOT of ads, to get the core fbx/bvh is $0.99
** There are NO Refunds, what you see, IS what you get.

    based on this:
    and old project here:

Wow ... sounds great. I'll be watching your site very closely. Will you be sticking to sci-fi stuff or will you get into other genres such as medieval / fantasy stuff?

um..sure, once I see a good image, I can radidly prototype and detail in ZBrush/Photoshop..

Creating some videos/players tonight, should have some free character and animations to try out tommorow!!

I will try to have web import directly intgrated into the editor.

    UNDER CONSTRUCTION

    That's high for non-exclusive asset.

There are a few good looking and animated characters that may be useful for a game in the asset store, so the higher price for something decent is not surprising. Still I'm able to get an exclusive character customized for my needs and compatible with whatever animations I want for roughly the same price.

I will buy some of your characters. Will you be setting up different clothing options as well? I could use some modern and business types on my upcoming project - Especially female chars. Did you start your own thread for this so we can more easily monitor the status of your site?

    not ready for a thread,
as a matter a fact I have only been in production two days.
    I am webmaster/database/designer/coder/artist/unity developer...

can I do all this??? in three frickin days??
maby not my entire 1,000 + game ready fbx mocap library and 100 + varied characters and models..

I will have 3 females, for now...but I can rapidly prototype and high res detail
sculpt/direct photo reference placement, for super detailed, realistic game characters!!

Trying to get this to embed in my home page,,

    another character..

I will keep you up to date. and post a thread for greater feedback, when I have updated some content.

    Thanks for your interest!!

loving the fighter animations. The first girl looks a little hunch-backed but otherwise I'm really impressed.

I love that Caopoeira animation. :)

To the original topic, yeah I think $600 - $800 is way overpriced for a non-exclusive stylized character. Especially with no animations or alternate skins or pieces. If it was a base character that had interchangeable parts it might be fine that it's non-exclusive, but I don't see the draw of paying that much for such a unique-looking character if you don't get ownership of her look.

Nice stunt. However at that price, better get an exclusive character.

yeah $600 is too high for me, that's even higher than 3drt, but the quality is nice though
