    On each occassion that I have installed Unity I get the message "The chosen volume contains software which is newer then the software you are installing" etc. I have just told the installer to continue, but is there any way to check which softare is causing the problem?

    thanks,
    Richard.

    In the installer there is a menu command:
    Edit->Show Log

    It should print the information about what can't be upgraded.
    Please tell me what the cause is when you find out.

    Mmmmm, the log doesn't seem very illuminating:

    I can send the whole log file if it will help.
    This was with the demo version 1.0.4 (I just purchased Unity so waiting for serial number) and I am on 10.4.2.

    Cheers,
    Richard.

    Yeah please send me the whole installer log after the installation is complete.

    Will do. It's not a serious problem - so no urgency!

    I'd be very interested to know what it is as I'm not willing to risk overwriting a newer file in case it breaks something, but would love to have a play with unity.

    It appears to be the unity web player. The log says it skipped the install of it.

    Did you install the unity web plugin first and then download/install unity?
    I never tested an install in this order.

    In any case the instaler will never overwrite other data. The worst thing that can happen is that it skips a part of the installation.

    I did install it independently of the Unity instal, but I don'e recall the order.
