I set to work on a new project around 1.5 months ago and it's been pretty much just learning and research for the endeavour but the last few days have given an opportunity to apply some of the ideas in a pretty incomprehensible way but looks nice! Enjoying fine asset store items that got me to a nice result so quickly and recommend them wholly - terrain composer and world composer for organising/editing and fetching large amounts of real-world land, relief terrain shaders for the nitty gritty of the terrain materials, fluidity for a really great fluid simulation which ive high hopes for becoming the best volcano simulator going ha and Nuaj for the lovely atmosphere/lighting/clouds

This project is a long term one and I suppose i'll update this thread if anyone cares enough, but theres some exciting ideas bubbling away that will reveal themselves in time

You could probably convince me that 1:19 was real. :)

Dang that's impressive! :D I think the volcano smoke should be more of a darker blackish gray color...you could do something like Mordor or the volcano in Wrath of the Titans, that'd be sick!

The volcano is currently just there to get a feel for it, the dev (its a very good fluid simulation called Fluidity) seems happy to add density and persistence to the model (so lighting, self shadowing, texture etc) and it already allows you to have several simulations at once, the volcano i'm really looking forwards to as it should look lovely in its finished form, i definitely have ambitions there. Thanks for the kind works anyways folks

What FPS is it running at? The video stutters for me for some reason.

Good point, it was running at 20fps or so without the recording software, so badly performing at that point, but as i'd only had it all together over the day i hadnt anticipated performance problems. I was bugged by them though (although so long as it runs fine on my computer im happy with that) so i've spent the night/morning seeing where to speed it up, and had some great success - looking at the 3 heaviest factors, the rtp applied to way too many terrains, the cloud sim and the fluid sim, figured a speed up from around 18fps to around 100, so a night well spent with hopefully more gains to be made before i proceed on the next problem, trees
